The Last Of Us Part 1 free download quietly released

The latest update for The Last of Us Part I has been released, predominantly ironing out issues for those playing the game on the base PlayStation 5.

Version 2.0.2 is now available and should automatically begin downloading when you load up your console, if it hasn’t been installed already.

It’s a short and sweet patch but that’s perhaps to be expected.

The Last of Us Part I launched in 2022, so it’s hardly as if the title is in need of much refinement – especially on the base PS5 models.

The PS5 Pro update dropped recently but that’s not what’s being addressed here.

Update 2.0.2 features just two fixes.

It has “fixed a crash that could occur when killing an enemy with any weapon” and another issue “where in-game visuals could appear sharper than intended when playing on a base PS5 model”.

If either of these problems have been plaguing you, it’s your lucky day.

While you’re here, it would be remiss not to mention the fact that it’s a very exciting time for The Last of Us fans as Naughty Dog is beginning to tease its next game.

It’s widely believed to be a new IP but that’s not set in stone.

What we know for certain is that it’s being written and directed by Neil Druckmann, with Troy Baker starring in an undisclosed role.

Druckmann recently said that he had full control over the game, but added that Sony had control over the reveal.

Reading between the lines, that could be signalling that a reveal is ready – he’s simply not sure when it’ll land.

That fits the game’s timeline as we know it began development in 2020.

Ghost of Yōtei did so too, and that received a reveal this year.

Let’s all hope that we’re not kept waiting too long, as the thought of a new Naughty Dog project is enough to leave us all salivating.
