Is Daryl Dixon the key to ending the apocalypse?
Even though The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is definitely a great addition to the TWD Universe, many people note the similarity between Daryl’s spinoff and HBO’s hit series The Last of Us. The thing is, both shows have protagonists escorting special (immune) kids from one place to another.
In TWD: Daryl Dixon, it is severely implied that Laurent is immune to the virus. Born right when the outbreak began, Laurent grew up in an abbey shielded from the chaos outside.
The nuns there believed he was special, possibly even the key to mankind’s salvation, because Laurent was exposed to the infection while still in his mother’s womb.
This exposure led many, including his aunt Isabelle, to believe that he might be the one to save humanity from the plague. And while everyone’s eyes are on this young boy, some speculate that the real answer might be right under our noses — Daryl.
A fan theory has been shared on Reddit, suggesting that Daryl might be immune to the virus that’s turned the world upside down. Remember back in the earlier seasons, there was that flu outbreak at the prison?
What’s intriguing is the mention of Daryl’s rare blood type on the show. It might also imply that Daryl’s presence in France isn’t just a mere coincidence and that he might be the key to finding the cure. Basically, it means that CRM took Daryl on that ship for a specific purpose, but he got away.
However, not everyone’s on board with these theories. Some fans feel it’d be too cliché for the main character to be immune. And then there’s the debate about whether immunity would even matter at this point in the story. Other TWD diehards believe this twist to be super cheesy.
But, whether you believe Daryl’s immune, Laurent’s the key, or neither, it’s always fun to speculate. After all, The Walking Dead has never been shy about throwing curveballs our way.
Honestly, it seems kinda lazy to make anyone, whether it’s Daryl, Laurent, or whoever, immune. On the other hand, if The Walking Dead wants to keep us hooked, maybe we’d be more interested in seeing what happens when they discover a cure and start rebuilding the world.
