The remake of the first Witcher game is still in development, but a tease from CD Projekt Red spells good news for fans.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt showed everyone what a truly perfect RPG looks like, so it’s no wonder that it’s being used as the main inspiration for the upcoming remake.
It’ll be a while before I get to see it, but in an interview with IGN CD Projekt Red confirmed that it’s still on the way and is being given all the love and care it needs to thrive.
They said: “The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt Red. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger.”
From the sound of things the remake will feature an open-world world, and it’s possible the team could be considering giving players free-roam over The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s map but expanded to include additional areas as well.
The IGN interview was shared on Reddit and many fans said the same thing, believing it’d be a no-brainer to make the remake just as big as the last Witcher game if not bigger.
“Makes sense to merge the areas together for the remake. They were likely split back in the day due to a technical limitation.”
“Witcher 3’s world style and side quests but Witcher 1’s story would be fantastic.”
“The Witcher 1 Remake with The Witcher 3 Open World? Yes please.”
Again no date was shared for the upcoming remake, and with the majority CD Projekt Red’s time dedicated to The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel it might be a while before we get our hands on it, unfortunately.
