CD Projekt Red has brought GTA to Cyberpunk 2077 with the latest 2.2 update that adds an iconic feature from the Rockstar franchise.

The future just got a whole lot funnier and more stylish in Cyberpunk 2077 with the release of Patch 2.2, dubbed Express Yourself. This update adds a lot of new customization to the game letting players stamp their identity onto everything from their character to their vehicles.

The update also brings back a hilariously futuristic spin on an old trick from the Grand Theft Auto games. You can now evade the police force of Night City by giving your car a new paint job, much like the Pay ‘n’ Sprays from GTA. The update also has 10 new cars, new photo mode features, and the return of Johnny Silverhand to your passenger seat.

One of the funniest features in Patch 2.2 is the ability to lose the cops by stitching your car’s color. This new mechanic takes full advantage of Night City’s advanced vehicle tech. Players can switch up their paint job with the TwinTone feature and watch their heat level fade away as the police search for a car that no longer matches their description.
While it might seem absurd in a world filled with cybernetic tech, the ridiculousness only adds to the charm of this GTA-esque getaway trick. The TwinTone feature isn’t just for eluding the cops. Players can now scan the paint jobs of other cars around Night City and replicate them onto their own rides. This opens up a whole new layer of vehicle customization.
Fans of Keanu Reeves’ iconic Johnny Silverhand will enjoy his new cameo feature. With a 25% chance of spawning in the passenger seat while you drive, Johnny will provide snarky comments, personal insights, and sometimes outright insults. Fans of the character can even include him in their photo mode adventures, thanks to new camera options.
Speaking of photo mode, Patch 2.2 introduces major improvements that cater to all you photographers out there. The camera now has a drone mode with an extended range, collision toggles, and the ability to spawn NPCs for all your photo adventures. Players can experiment with new lighting options, aspect ratios, and even frame their favorite shots in V’s apartment.

The patch also expands character customization options, with over 100 new assets ranging from nail designs to face tattoos. There’s also a new randomizer with a “plain-to-punk” slider that lets players experiment with random new looks for V. For those who want their version of V to stand out even more in the neon haze of Night City, these options are a dream come true. CDPR has gone above and beyond to make Cyberpunk 2077 the best version of itself.
CD Projekt Red also teased that the patch added some secrets for players to find. Game director Paweł Sasko mentioned in the REDstreams podcast for the update that a “bunch of new things that happen in the city.” He also mentioned that there are some secrets from the base game that he hasn’t seen people talk about online.
Beyond the flashy new features, Patch 2.2 includes numerous quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. They range from resolving quest issues to improving ray-traced shadows and NPC behaviors. For an update that no one expected, it’s very cool of CDPR.
