No other Star Wars project caused so much controversy as The Acolyte. Since Disney’s takeover of Lucasfilm, numerous Star Wars projects have been targeted and criticized by the fans, but nothing compares to the level of controversy caused by this series, as it basically turned into an all-out hate campaign against the show by what seems to be a very loud minority.
After eight episodes, it was recently reported that Lucasfilm is not going to move forward with The Acolyte and that there won’t be a second season of the show, despite the fact that fans had been expecting one. And while the series definitely had its issues, which are most likely the cause for its cancelation, the level of hate by the so-called fans is incredible.
We have reported that series star Amandla Stenberg has been a victim of bullying by the so-called “fans,” who are just toxic haters and not true Star Wars fans, and it now seems that the group is targeting yet another aspect of the show, which is downright ridiculous if you ask us.
We have reported how the “fans,” as they like to call themselves, have been review-bombing the show due to stupid political reasons throughout its run. And while that probably had nothing to do with Disney canceling the show – as they are a minority – it caused a lot of debates online, as well as a lot of controversy.
The hate campaign was a large-scale one, targeting both the show and the people involved, despite the fact that a lot of the hates – some by their own admittance – had not even seen a second of the show, which says more about this campaign than anything else. And now that the show’s been canceled, you’d think that they would stop, but no… not only is the campaign still ongoing, but it has also reached a wholly new level of toxicity:
These assholes are even review bombing THE MERCH!! How much more pathetic can someone get!! #RenewTheAcolyte #SaveTheAcolyte #AcolyteS2 pic.twitter.com/M1x1gJmNDD

As you can see, based on the screenshots, the “fans” are now going on random online shopping sites and are review-bombing The Acolyte merchandise, which is a completely new level of ridiculousness that makes absolutely no sense at all.
First of all, why would you spend so much time and energy on something you hate, especially now that the series has been canceled? This says a lot about the people doing this as well. Secondly, have you stopped to think that, maybe, you are causing problems for the people selling this merchandise? These people are your friends, neighbors, relatives… and your goal is for them to get less money so that they can survive in this world? Smart move…
We just hope this ends soon and that the so-called “fans” will simply move on, as this doesn’t make any sense whatsoever anymore.
