The company revealed that its net bookings came in on the low end of of its revised expectations for the second quarter at just t €352.3 million.

The company originally expected to have net bookings of €500 million but significantly downgraded those expectations to a range between €350 to €370 million after Star Wars Outlaws sales were “soft” and XDefiant underperformed.

Speaking specifically to Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft reported that the game “underperformed sales expectations.” Despite this, Ubisoft attempted to spin the game as a positive writing “The game achieved solid reviews and user scores across First Party and Epic Stores reflecting one of the most immersive expressions of the Star Wars universe ever created.”

It then detailed that the company is attempting to improve the quality of the game, “Teams are fully mobilized on implementing changes to enhance game mechanics and overall polish. Since launch, the team has delivered three Title Updates focused on quality of-life features and bug fixing, notably improvements in stealth mechanics, NPC AI and save features.”

From there it claims these changes have delivered “tangible results” but does not share what those are, but instead claims it has seen a “meaningful community sentiment improvement.”

Those words are meaningless given Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot used similar words while attempting to defend at the time analyst estimations that the game would only sell 5 million units in the quarter and the belief that was a low number.

Guillemot said back in July, “What we have factored in is a strong launch for Star Wars Outlaws that reflects the fact that it is among the most awaited games of the industry this year and a really strong, positive community sentiment. And also, the fact, that we are coming with the biggest marketing campaign ever, so far, for [an] Ubisoft game. So that’s what we’ve been factoring in the second quarter.”

It’s been rumored the game sold around 1 million units in its first month with Insider Gaming’s Grant Taylor-Hall writing, “We have secured a current sales figure from sources close to the game. At the time of writing, Star Wars Outlaws has just ticked over one million sales worldwide.”

However, all available public metrics indicate the game’s sales completely stagnated soon after the game released. The game is no longer on True Trophies’ top 40 Most Popular PlayStation Games Chart. Similarly it is not on True Achievements’ Top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart.

Earlier this month Twitch Tracker noted that streams of the game were only averaging 176 viewers across an average of 32 channels. At its peak the game had an average peak of 45,490 viewers across 757 channels. It notes that the average viewers declined 87% from August to September.

It has actually declined over 99% if you look at average viewers and compare it to the average peak of 45,490 when it launched in August.
