Aubrey Plaza, of Parks and Recreation and Legion fame, is a strong addition to Agatha All Along’s incredible cast, and theories have been rife concerning the true identity of her apparent Green Witch, Rio Vidal. Agatha All Along’s first few episodes have confirmed that Rio Vidal and Agatha Harkness had a prior relationship, one that even seemed to be romantic in nature, but the pair somehow became estranged. While this relationship wasn’t given attention until 2024’s Agatha All Along, WandaVision might have actually teased it three years ago.
WandaVision Teased Agatha Harkness’ Relationship With A Green Witch
Aubrey Plaza’s Green Witch May Have Been Teased In WandaVision’s Finale

Currently, Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal is known as a Green Witch in Agatha Harkness’ coven on the Witches’ Road. Green Witches appear to have an affinity for Earthly powers and a deep connection to nature, allowing Vidal to command the elements at will, and even heal others’ wounds, as she did for Agatha Harkness in Agatha All Along’s premiere. As pointed out by MCU fans (via X), Agatha All Along and WandaVision created Jac Schaeffer may have been planting seeds for the Green Witch’s debut even in her 2021 Phase 4 series.

WandaVision’s finale saw Agatha Harkness lecture Wanda Maximoff about her true nature as the Scarlet Witch from a Westview rooftop. Behind her, however, was a giant billboard displaying an advertisement for Squeaky Shine, a cleaning product that uses “the power of Mother Earth.” The size of this billboard suggests it was not chosen randomly, as it’s far too noticeable in a series full of hidden signs and surprising twists. This seems like an overt set-up for Agatha Harkness and Rio Vidal’s relationship in Agatha All Along.
Agatha Harkness & Rio Vidal’s Relationship Explained
Theories Have Emerged Concerning Agatha & Rio’s Prior Relationship

When Rio Vidal was first introduced in Agatha All Along episode 1, “Seekest Thou the Road,” she appeared to be nothing more than an old enemy of Agatha Harkness. Agatha’s loss of the Darkhold made her vulnerable to adversaries she’d previously been hidden from, including Vidal. However, subsequent episodes, particularly episode 4, “If I Can’t Reach You/Let My Song Teach You,” have revealed more about the pair’s connection. Most notably, it seems that Rio Vidal betrayed Agatha by “doing [her] job,” which has spurred major theories.
The most popular theory regarding Rio Vidal’s true identity is that she is actually the MCU’s depiction of Lady Death. Agatha All Along has implied that Agatha Harkness’ son, Nicholas Scratch, is deceased, though rumors suggest she traded him for the Darkhold. If Agatha and Lady Death had been romantically involved, and then Death had to take Nicholas, “doing [her] job,” this would certainly put distance between the lovers. Agatha All Along is yet to reveal Agatha and Rio Vidal’s true connection, but this convincing theory seems like the most likely approach, and WandaVision might have set it up perfectly.
