Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) and Fez in WednesdaySeason 1 of Netflix’s Wednesday introduced an unforgettable character in Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams, but the setting of Nevermore Academy, her new creepy boarding school, is just as memorable. While Wednesday would never admit that she cares about her classmates or enjoys being at the school, she finds a sense of purpose in trying to solve the mystery of why so many people are getting killed. She also likes the fact that her parents Gomez (Luis Gusman) and Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) attended Nevermore, even though she would find it cheesy to admit that as well.

While Nevermore is an exciting setting, it’s not used as well as it could be in Wednesday season 1, and there’s too much of a focus on the nearby town, which is called Jericho. Along with featuring the famous Addams Family’s dark humor, Wednesday season 2 needs to move past the main conflict of the first eight episodes in order to be more engaging.

What Conflict Should There Be In Wednesday Season 2?

The conflict in Wednesday season 2 should be between the Nevermore Academy students and the new episodes should move away from season 1’s tension between the residents of Jericho and Nevermore. While the first eight episodes are entertaining, they focus too much on the basic humans vs. monsters trope, which gets old since it has been used in so many TV shows and movies.

Since the Nevermore students have magical abilities, whether they’re werewolves or sirens or vampires, there should be enough drama between them that they don’t have to fight with the people who live in the nearby town. If Wednesday season 2 focuses on Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), then maybe Enid and the other werewolves can get upset with another group of powerful students. They could compete during a class project that goes awry or they could hint at a long-standing rivalry.

It’s a good idea to focus on rivalries between Wednesday’s classmates since this would keep all the action at Nevermore, which would also allow for a darker Wednesday season 2 vibe. Season 1 focuses a bit too much on the town, from the field trip at nearby Pilgrim World to Wednesday investigating the Hyde Monster. A boarding school is a fun setting with a lot of storytelling possibilities since high school students are living together in such close quarters, and the show needs to explore the potential drama more.

Wednesday season 2 can also feature tension between Bianca and Wednesday, which is something that Joy Sunday talked about in a January 2024 interview with Entertainment Weekly. Sunday said:

“I think it’s so natural for her and Wednesday to have a little bit of competition. I’m really excited to see their friendship bloom alongside that.”

This will be fun to watch because even though Wednesday isn’t a siren-like Bianca, she is strong-willed and doesn’t listen to other people. She also has a strong connection to the past, including her family, and seems very intuitive.

There are many reasons to think that Bianca and Wednesday could team up in some way in the second season of the popular Netflix series. In a 2022 interview with Deadline, Joy Sunday also shared that Bianca likes Wednesday more when season 1 ends, which opens the door for them to get along better in season 2… and perhaps find someone who they want to fight. Sunday said:

“But by the end, Bianca is able to understand and appreciate Wednesday who she learns also wants to protect the community Bianca nurtured. Now there’s an opportunity for growth in their relationship because of that understanding.”

What Nevermore Students Will Appear In Wednesday Season 2?

Enid Sinclair with her claws out in the new Wednesday series

After the exit of Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, fans are curious about which Nevermore students will come back for Wednesday season 2. Enid Sinclair will come back as Wednesday’s roommate turned friend. Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay) will also return. While Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) doesn’t go to Nevermore, he will also be part of the Wednesday season 2 cast.

While there are some memorable Wednesday season 1 problems that will hopefully be fixed, there are a lot of fun story possibilities involving these characters. Since Enid is so innocent, Joy is so intelligent, and Tyler is still so mysterious, it’s going to be compelling watching them in scenes with Wednesday, who always tries to be tough. Enid’s werewolf nature and Joy’s storyline as a siren will add some fun drama, too.
