In From season 3, episode 4, Victor brings Sara into a fort while looking through a suitcase full of objects from the town’s murdered residents. He hopes that seeing their belongings will help jog his memory, but realizes that Christopher’s possession isn’t in there, which is the most significant of all. Victor then informs Sara that he needs to find Jasper, Christopher’s old ventriloquist doll who appears to have a supernatural twist. So far, Victor’s backstory in From has only revealed vague details about Christopher’s actions and origins, but Jasper seems to be key to unlocking the whole truth.
Christopher Arrived On The Same Day As Victor & Later Killed The Entire Town
Christopher Was Behind The Town’s Massacre When Victor Was A Child

Victor revealed in From season 2 that Christopher had arrived in the mysterious town on the same day that he arrived over 40 years ago with his mother, Miranda, and sister, Eloise. Victor shared that Christopher was a kind man who was known for being happy and making the town laugh, which assisted with community morale given how difficult it was to smile at that time. Christopher would even use his ventriloquist doll, Jasper, as a way to help make the kids and other trapped members of the community laugh.
However, Victor has noted that Christopher eventually began to see a mysterious symbol, which is the same one that Jade became increasingly fixated on throughout From season 2. After Christopher started seeing the symbol, he stopped making people laugh, and started to become a more concerning presence in town. Through From season 2, episode 8’s flashbacks, it’s revealed that young Victor and his sister Eloise were put into a hiding place by their mother, who begged them to stay there so that Christopher wouldn’t be able to find them.
Jade first saw a vision of the symbol in From season 1, episode 3 when exploring the root cellar. From has yet to reveal where Christopher first began seeing the symbol.
Eloise didn’t lose and left the location, leaving Victor alone overnight. When he woke up, Victor found the entire town massacred, as From’s mysterious monsters had seemingly ravaged the town and brutally slaughtered all residents but Victor himself. Victor’s sister and mother both died in the massacre, though he found his mother’s body further from town by the Faraway Bottle Tree portal. It’s implied that Christopher was responsible for the town being slain by the monsters, though how exactly he did this is what Victor needs to remember in From season 3’s upcoming episodes.
Jasper Is Christopher’s Ventriloquist Doll Who Is Seemingly Possessed
Jasper Is A Living Doll With Creepy Connections To The Symbol

While Christopher has been dead for decades by From season 3’s current timeline, his ventriloquist doll, Jasper, is still around. Victor realizes that Jasper is the object from Christopher that he needs to find in order to remember what really happened, but the doll is likely still in the tunnels where Victor last saw him. Additionally, it seems that finding Jasper could lead to more trouble for From’s trapped characters given the doll’s mysterious nature.
It could be Jasper who was the one convincing Christopher to kill the entire town, doing the bidding of the sinister entities in town.
In From season 3, episode 4’s flashback, young Victor walks into a room and sees Christopher sitting on a chair opposite Jasper, who sits untouched on a couch. However, Victor remembers seeing Jasper’s mouth moving and talking without anybody touching him, suggesting Jasper could be possessed by some spirit or evil force in From. It could be Jasper who was the one convincing Christopher to kill the entire town, doing the bidding of the sinister entities in town. Similar to From’s diner jukeboxes sending messages through songs, the town may have used Jasper to send dark, manipulative messages to Christopher.
Why Victor Needs To Find Jasper In From Season 3
Jasper Holds Answers To Christopher’s Dark Turn & The Symbol’s Meaning

Victor comes to the conclusion that Jasper can tell him exactly what happened with Christopher and why he killed the entire town all those years ago. The living evil ventriloquist doll was first introduced in From season 2, as Jasper appeared in the tunnels that Victor and Tabitha were looking through before later appearing in one of Jade’s visions in the Colony House. This was shortly after Jade started seeing the symbol, suggesting Jasper is inhabited by some entity connected to the symbol who seeks to incite sinister chaos around town.
Therefore, not only will finding Jasper reveal the truth about Christopher’s evil turn, his reason for killing the town, and his responsibility for Miranda’s death, but the ventriloquist doll may also answer exactly what the symbol is and what it means. Jasper was last seen at the end of season 2 when Jade ventured into the tunnels and saw From‘s mysterious “anghkooey” children and the symbol in a tree’s vines. Considering Jasper seemingly has some creepy connection to Jade in From, it’s possible he won’t reveal the truth about Christopher until the entity’s work with Jade is done.
