Two days ago, James Gunn released the first image of Krypto the Superdog for the upcoming Superman film. The image showed Superman and Krypto on the Moon, observing Earth, in a scene that mimics a famous comic book panel. Since then, Krypto has been the center of online talks and rumors, which is what prompted this report as well.

Namely, since the revelation, the fans cannot stop talking about Krypto and how cute he is, which also prompted additional talks about Krypto’s fate in the DCU, as well as what his exact role in the story is going to be.

As you can imagine, the fans are absolutely loving Ozu and he has been at the center of online discussions and rumors since then.

His origins are somewhat changed, but they don’t stray away from the well-known comic book origins that much. And while we don’t know what Krypto’s exact role will be, it seems that Gunn will be using him in the future as well.

Gunn confirmed Krypto is an alien dog, and some rumors claim that Krypto will appear in Supergirl as well, but Gunn was also asked about Krypto’s ability to talk, and here is what the filmmaker said about this:

As you can see, it seems that Krypto won’t be able to talk in the DCU, which will make some fans happy and others sad, we’re sure. On a personal level, we don’t know what to think – it could be better, but if they’re changing the character that much, they will have to provide us with a good enough backstory, and we are hoping that they will do exactly that.
