On Thursday, the superproducer visited The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he briefly spoke about the feud. When asked if he’d been following the “dramatic” battle, he said he had and compared it to a fight between Godzilla and King Kong.

RZA had said although the Wu-Tang Clan is “nothing to fuck with,” beef is valuable for the culture.

“It’s valuable in hip-hop because hip-hop is a sport,” said RZA. “It’s a sport where we challenge emcees, we challenge the deejays, we challenge the breakdancers, we challenge who can make the best graffiti tag.”

He continued, “It’s good for the sport when there’s confrontation. It’s healthy, as long as it stays on the record and stays in the music, and it doesn’t spill over to the streets where somebody gets hurt.”

The beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar reached epic proportions, with the latter dropping the explosive track “Not Like Us.” Things escalated to the point where Drake filed a lawsuit against UMG and Spotify for defamation, claiming both entities illegally boosted streams of Kendrick’s record.

In his interview with Colbert, RZA also discussed the Wu-Tang Clan’s upcoming final tour, which will take place later this year. According to RZA, the trek will consist solely of straight lyrics.

“It’s bittersweet,” said RZA. “This tour is gonna be very lyrical, you know, it’s gonna be unlike anything we’ve ever done before, the production so I want everybody to come,” he said. “We actually have a special guest, Run the Jewels, will be with us as well.”
