Cate Blanchett hasn’t just got hundreds of awards to her name (yes, you read that right—the Australian actress has amassed a staggering 218 wins during her stellar career), she also boasts a flawless red carpet record too.

From the moment she had her breakthrough in the industry in the late 1990s, the Melbourne native has become a best-dressed list fixture, a red carpet target for the chicest luxury brands, and a trailblazer when it comes to re-wearing and repurposing her high-end pieces for photocalls and premieres.

Just like how her acting roles run the gamut between dramas, period pieces, biopics, action blockbusters, and fantasy films, her personal style continues to keep us guessing too. A proponent of an embellished gown as much as a sleek and sharp tailored suit, she never fails to be immaculately turned out in designs by the likes of Armani Privé, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, and Valentino, to name a few.

For the last decade, the 55-year-old has flown the flag for sustainable, circular fashion on the press junket circuit. In the past, at various film festivals, she’s made a pledge to only wear outfits she has previously worn. It’s now a regular occurrence to see the style maven stepping out in a divine dress or trouser suit that she’s already posed for the flashbulbs in. She’s even taken to reconfiguring her most popular designer looks, showing that it’s not only possible to deconstruct and reimagine previously worn hits, but it’s something that all stylists and celebrities should be championing at large.

Since 2018, Blanchett has joined forces with Elizabeth Stewart, catapulting her relationship with fashion into a new realm. As well as their commitment to sustainability, the duo ensures that Blanchett, who is a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Global Goodwill Ambassador, can use fashion as a vehicle to share her political, social, and ethical beliefs too.
