Adam Levine is ready to get back to The Voice. Days before his long-awaited return to the competition series, NBC released a video of the Maroon 5 frontman looking back on his past experience as a coach.

Indeed, Levine won the first-ever season of The Voice, beating out fellow OGs CeeLo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton. Levine went on to win the show two more times, in seasons 5 and 9, before departing the series ahead of season 17.
Now, nearly six years later, Levine is ready to return to the coach’s chair. This time he’ll be doing so alongside John Legend, who’s been on the show since on-and-off since season 15. Michael Bublé will also be back for his sophomore season after winning season 26, while Kelsea Ballerini will be a first-time coach in season 27.
“It feels good. It feels accomplished,” Levine told Legend of returning. “I did miss the chair. It’s a unique and singular experience. It can’t really be replicated.”
Levine went on to joke that Bublé and Ballerini don’t know what they’re doing “at all,” before admitting that even he, as an experienced coach, is in for something different this time around.
“It definitely, a million years ago when I was on, was a lot different,” he said. “Music was different. It changes.”
Though Levine is back on the show, he won’t be back in his same chair. Legend has snagged the seat and forced Levine to the other side of the line.
“That doesn’t really feel as weird as you’d think it would because I’m on the other end,” Levine said. “It would’ve really messed with me if I was sandwiched in the middle. I would have felt like, ‘Oh no.’ That’s why we’re the bookends. See, we’ve got the bookend positions.”
Overall, Levine had one sentiment about being back.
“It feels cool,” he said. “It is an amazing feeling.”
Season 27 of The Voice will premiere Feb. 3 on NBC.
