American Idol Season 22 alums McKenna Breinholt and Jack Blocker performed in some unusual circumstances in Nashville on Saturday: in the dark without power.

Breinholt, 25, who finished in seventh place on Season 22, and Blocker, 25, who was runner-up to winner Abi Carter performed at the Franklin Summer Bash on Saturday.

Other Season 22 Top 10 finishers Kalibrienne (8th place), Mia Matthews (T-10th) and Kayko (T-10th) all performed at Liberty Hall in Franklin, just south of Nashville.

Whil Kalibrienne, Matthews, and Kayko’s performances went off without a hitch, the power went out as Breinholt was performing her last song, the Hillsong track Oceans.

The power went out due to a lightning strike in the area that struck a transformer (according to TMZ) but the lack of power didn’t stop Breinholt from finishing her song… nor did it stop Blocker from taking the stage for the night’s final performance.

Grammy Award-winning singer and former American Idol contestant Mandisa Lynn Hundley, known professionally as Mandisa, has died at the age of 47. The singer competed on the fifth season of the popular talent show, finishing in ninth place. After that, she went on to have a celebrated career in Christian music. Her cause of death is unknown. She continued singing the song a capella without her microphone, as the audience joined in, with many turning their phone flashlights on.

She got up from behind the keyboard and seemingly started recording the audience singing along with her.

The singer took to Instagram on Sunday to discuss the incident, stating, ‘Reunited with the most amazing people on this planet and it feels soooo so good. Last night’s @franklinsummerbash was definitely one for the books.’

‘The power went out right when I started to sing my last song, which happened to be Oceans by Hillsong. When my microphone went out.. the crowd started to sing a cappella to keep the song going,’ she said.

‘All I can say is that I believe that was divine intervention and the spirit filled the entire room while we all praised the Lord in unison and in harmony,’ she said.

‘Forever grateful I can keep this memory with me forever. I love you Franklin!! You have my whole heart and I will for sure be back!!’ she concluded.

Since the power didn’t come back on when Blocker was scheduled to perform, he took the stage and performed as well, with the crowd literally lighting the way.
