American Idol‘s Noah Thompson tried out a new strategy on social media now that he no longer has a big record company supporting his career. Noah burst onto the national stage via American Idol season 20. While it seemed like HunterGirl was a strong favorite to win, Noah’s steady improvements and breakout performances with songs like Rihanna’s “Stay” propelled him into the finale, where he took home the top prize on American Idol. Unfortunately, he was eventually dropped by the record label he was signed to after winning and is now an independent artist.
American Idol winner Noah Thompson attempted a new social media strategy to stay engaged with fans as he pursues a country music career.
Noah has provided regular updates about how his career is going since leaving the American Idol-affiliated record label, and his newest Instagram post showed off the singer attempting a new social media strategy to stay engaged with fans as he continues to pursue a country music career. He started off his video by admitting, “I’m trying to get better at social media.”
Noah then proceeded to teach his Instagram followers how to change the oil in their vehicles. Early on in the video, it became clear he wanted to use humor as a way to create engagement with his followers. Whoever filmed him started moving the camera away, and Noah said in a fake exasperated tone, “Get the camera back up. I’ve told you. Up.” The comments section of Noah’s Instagram post was filled with fans praising the American Idol winner for showing off how funny he is. There were also several comments noting that they learned a lot from Noah’s demonstration.
Will Noah Thompson’s New Social Media Strategy Work?
Noah Thompson Doesn’t Have Record Company To Help Him Anymore
With Noah admitting that he needed to get better at social media, it’s possible he would have relied on a social media manager from the record company if he had stayed signed with them. Unfortunately, he no longer has a team of experts helping him out now. As an independent artist, there’s a lot of elements in his career that he has to make happen for himself now. He might have a manager to help him book events. When it comes to social media, though, he came to the conclusion that he needed to step up his game.
In his latest Instagram post, Noah attempted to show off a part of his personal life outside of his career. A video like this one is a great way to humanize him and show that he may be in the entertainment industry, but he’s still just a regular person who works hard like everyone else. Adding some humor to the video was a great addition, proving that he’s starting to understand what might attract a stronger engagement on social media aside from just posting about his music and being in the recording studio.
The American Idol winner’s fans clearly loved his new social media strategy. It’s unclear at this point, though, how much it will help his music career, but at least he’s trying something new. Creating engaging content that non-fans might come across definitely has the potential to get his music heard by a wider audience, especially on streaming platforms like Spotify. Hopefully, Noah keeps showing off his humor and having fun as he attempts to navigate a career as an independent artist.
