TRUE Detective is back for a fourth time as another mystery takes center stage.

Fans of the Emmy Award-winning HBO series think that True Detective: Night Country is connected to the show’s previous three seasons.

Are True Detective and True Detective: Night Country related?

According to True Detective fans, Night Country appears connected to season 1.

Night Country features a completely different story, setting, and slew of characters from the show’s first season.

However, viewers believe they’ve caught some easter eggs from season 4 that refer to season 1’s story.

Director Issa Lopez has confirmed the fanbase’s theories and teased that season 4’s characters “are related to characters in the first season.”

Lopez also confessed to NBC that there’ll be some “final, big revelations in Episode 6.”

She also referred to the spiral symbol from season 1 and said the emblem will reappear later in Night Country.

The spiral symbol was representative of Carcosa, the Louisiana Bayou area where ritualistic murders were performed.

If viewers remember correctly, the homicides at Carcosa were performed by the Yellow King; who turned out to be Errol Childress.

Who is in the Night Country cast?

Night Country’s cast is led by Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, who play Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, respectively.

“Danvers and Navarro absolutely hate each other, but they work so well together,” Kali said of her and Jodie’s characters to the Hollywood Reporter.

“It falls in line with the True Detective umbrella. But they respect each other’s skills and they know they need each other to solve this case.

“She’s very calculated, but also unpredictable. There are so many contradictions when we meet her.”

Meanwhile, Jodie revealed she was reluctant to take on the character of Detective Danvers.

“It wasn’t an easy yes. I loved the script, loved the script, but I didn’t feel like I was right to play Danvers,” the Oscar winner told the abovementioned outlet.

“The character was written very differently, not for someone my age, and I felt like there are some changes that happen at that age that needed to be addressed.

“Originally, she was vulnerable and weepy and having a hard time adapting to grief.

“We ended up going the opposite route. All of that comes from this place of pain she’s hiding.

“It’s more interesting, and it better serves Navarro’s story, who is the central voice of the piece, the Indigenous voice. I wanted Danvers to serve that.”
