BORIS Johnson had a “manly pep talk” with Prince Harry to try to prevent Megxit in January 2020.

The ex-PM admits in a new memoir his efforts were “totally hopeless” as Harry left for Canada the next day to be reunited with his young family.

BoJo reveals: “There was a ridiculous business when they made me try to persuade Harry to stay. Kind of manly pep talk. Totally hopeless.”

The meeting took place during a UK-Africa investment summit in London’s Docklands on January 20, 2020 — one of the Prince’s final appearances as a working royal.

That evening he gave a speech to guests for his Sentebale charity saying he had no other option but to flee Britain.

A week earlier Harry, the Queen, Charles and William met at Sandringham to discuss his and wife Meghan’s move out of royal life.

Buckingham Palace did not comment.

The Sun revealed last week that Harry was set to make several appearances without his wife Meghan — including a solo transatlantic trip.

The usually inseparable pair have spent time apart since Harry’s lads’ trip to celebrate his 40th birthday this month.

Two weeks ago, the Duke of Sussex turned up alone at a charity event in California after Meghan pulled out at the last minute having fallen ill.

And on the 22nd he kicked off a week of high-profile solo events in New York.
