It’s always fun to get a peek into the homes of famous people because they tend to (understandably) be a little more guarded about their living situations. But when a celebrity’s home is listed for sale, we usually get real estate photos of the ins and outs of their houses. That’s exactly what happened with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s former New Orleans mansion. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the home recently sold for just $2.5 million, which actually seems kinda low for a giant house in today’s high-priced real estate market.
Technically Brad and Angelina weren’t actually selling the home. The now-divorced couple bought it in 2006 as headquarters for their Hurricane Katrina-focused charity the Make it Right Foundation. When the duo split in 2016, they sold the home to its new owners who recently auctioned off the mansion. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the starting bid was $1 million, so it barely doubled before the auction ended.
Though it may not have gone for record numbers, it’s still a beautiful 7,703-square-foot mansion in the heart of historic New Orleans. Take a look inside via these gorgeous photos.

The mansion overlooks the French Quarter.
The French Quarter is one of New Orleans’ most famous historic areas, filled with jazz clubs and Cajun restaurants and the iconic Bourbon Street. Brangelina’s former mansion is in the heart of this area and overlooks 36 feet of sidewalk on Governor Nicholls Street.

Enter through the vintage carriage driveway.
We may not use horse-drawn carriages anymore, but this mansion retains the charm from those olden days. Cars can enter through the carriage-style arched driveway, and there are even horse-adorned hitching posts still stationed out front. They aren’t as functional these days but to add a cool factor to the decor.

It retained touches of Parisian charm.
The inside of the home also has classic Parisian touches throughout such as wrought iron features, French glass doors, gorgeous cabinetry, and more. The home is from 1828, so it’s nice that even though it’s been updated, it hasn’t been totally wiped of all its classic charm.

The walls are treated with trendy Venetian plaster.
Venetian plaster is a wall treatment that gives rooms a polished depth that paint alone just can’t deliver. Seen here in the dining room, the rich accent walls would make eating in here feel extra glamorous. And Venetian plaster is very trendy in homes again these days, so it’s on theme with the times.
Gorgeous natural light bathes the whole place.
Not only does this mansion have gorgeous French door windows in many of the rooms, but they also let in so much natural light. That couch is literally bathed in sun. Try having seasonal affective disorder in a bright, warm house like this — it’s probably impossible.

The chic kitchen has a butcher block island.
Butcher block kitchen islands are very trendy because they double as built-in cutting boards. In addition, the kitchen in this home has marble countertops and top-of-the-line appliances. That stove has so many burners, it would be easy to cook a multi-course meal all at once.

Beautiful built-ins can display collectibles.
Wealthy people tend to love knickknacks and statues and expensive collectibles, and those are easily displayed on these built-in shelves. This room would also make a lovely library where a reader could get cozy in front of the fire with a cup of tea and a good book.

The primary bedroom comes complete with a fireplace.
There’s also a fireplace in the primary suite if one doesn’t feel like sharing the library with other people in the home. This bedroom is so big it even has room for a sitting area alongside the bed and fireplace. Serious five-star hotel vibes are going on.

This bathroom has a dream amount of storage space.
Sure, the marble in this bathroom is breathtaking, but we’re also just super impressed by the number of drawers and cabinets. We could store all our skin care and beauty products and hair tools and anything else we wanted and still have space left over. Hopefully the new owners put the storage to good use.

There are beautiful balcony flower beds.
The curb appeal on this house is pretty off the charts. Of course, it’s in a historic area so it makes sense it would have appealing outside decor to stay on theme with the rest of the classic French Quarter. The flower beds every few feet along the balcony make it so pretty to look at from the street. Actually living there would be even better.

The courtyard is a peaceful place to hang.
It could get a little overwhelming having the front of the house right on a sidewalk, but the private courtyard offers a reprieve from city noise and sights. In addition to beautiful landscaping and a fountain, the courtyard offers plenty of seating for some outdoor dining.

Take a dip in the outdoor pool.
The courtyard also comes complete with a pool. It isn’t quite warm enough in New Orleans to use year round, but the sweltering summers will be made much more enjoyable thanks to this water feature. Even just lounging on the chairs next to the pool would be enjoyable.

Guests have their pick of bedrooms.
In addition to the massive primary suite with its personal fireplace, four more guest bedrooms are in the main area of the mansion. They may not all come with fireplaces, but the French doors and ceiling-height windows overlooking the courtyard are pretty cool features.

The adjoining guest house has tons of space.
If the multiple bedrooms in the main house don’t feel like quite enough space, there’s also a three-story guest house on the property that comes with its own kitchen. It’s basically two houses in one, which means the whole property pretty much sold for $1 million per house.

Stop by the private gym.
The guest house also has a private gym with free weights, a punching bag, rowing machine, exercise bike, and more. And because it’s in the guest area, people can get a workout in without waking anyone up in the main house. It’s very thoughtful space planning on the designer’s part.
