Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are essentially A-lister competitors, but whose net worth is more impressive?

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are, undoubtedly, two of Hollywood’s biggest actors today. Oddly enough, both men started out in commercials with Pitt in a Pringles ad while DiCaprio starred in a commercial for a Honda Civic.

Clearly, however, they’ve come a long way since. In fact, these men have also become two of the most recognizable faces around the world.

As expected, all that fame and success has also resulted in quite a financial windfall for both Pitt and DiCaprio. Both A-listers command millions on every film project, including the 2019 Quentin Tarantino hit Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.

Not to mention, both actors have also become successful Hollywood producers. So now, there’s just one matter that needs to be settled, which is, which Oscar winner is worth more today?

Updated August 2023: Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are two of today’s richest actors. This is because they have diversified their money and taken on larger roles in Hollywood other than being in front of the camera.

In just the past six months alone, both actors have added an extra $50 million to their net worth. As such, it appears that one project or one great investment could turn the tide on who has the higher net worth.

Both actors have projects that they are starring in or are producing that are in various stages of production. As such, over the next year or so, Pitt’s and DiCaprio’s net worth is only going to continue to climb. Who will come out the victor of having the higher net worth though, is anyone’s guess.

Leonardo DiCaprio Is One Of The Richest A-Listers Around

DiCaprio has certainly come a long way since his breakout role in the 1993 film The Boy’s Life with Robert De Niro. Of course, everyone knows that the Los Angeles native went on to star in James Cameron’s box office record-smashing film, Titanic, opposite Kate Winslet.

For DiCaprio, it was the very film that further opened doors for him in Hollywood. Titanic was also the film that allowed the actor to pursue his passion projects.

“I had forged by then exactly what type of films I wanted to do. I used it as a blessing, to make R-rated, different kinds of movies, to throw the dice a little bit on things I wanted to act in,” DiCaprio explained. “People would want to finance those movies now. I’d never had that, before Titanic.”

Indeed, the actor went on to star in films such as Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, and later on, The Wolf of Wall Street.

At the same time, DiCaprio also took the time to establish his very own production company, Appian Way Productions. Since its inception, Appian has been involved in all of DiCaprio’s films with Scorcese. It also collaborated with George Clooney on his Oscar-nominated film, The Ides of March, where DiCaprio also served as an executive producer.

Meanwhile, in 2020, it was also announced that Appian Way had closed a multi-picture first-look deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“At Sony, we feel like we just landed a rare GOAT deal — as Michael Jordan and Tom Brady are to basketball and football, so is Leo to film,” Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Tom Rothman remarked in a statement.

At the same time, DiCaprio has managed to ink some seriously lucrative endorsement deals for himself. In the past, he’s become a brand ambassador for Tag Heuer and Chinese automotive brand BYD.

In the end, all those projects and partnerships have given DiCaprio an estimated net worth of $300 million today.

Plan B Has Worked Out Well For Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt

From the beginning, it became clear that Pitt was not the typical A-lister. Sure, his onscreen presence readily turns films into hits. And of course, he easily commands $20 million (or more) per picture.

But as many know, Pitt also established his own production company, Plan B Entertainment, after making a name for himself in films such as Thelma & Louise (his breakout film), Se7en, The Devil’s Own, 12 Monkeys, and of course, Fight Club.

Since he initially put up the company with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, Pitt’s Plan B has gone to produce some of Hollywood’s most popular films. In fact, the company is behind critical hits such as Scorcese’s The Departed, Netflix’s Okja, 12 Years a Slave, Moneyball, and the Oscar-winning film, Moonlight, among others.

At the same time, Plan B also produced the critically acclaimed series, The OA, for Netflix.

Back in 2020, it was announced that Pitt’s company had scored a first-look deal with Warner Bros. The company also signed an overall television deal with Amazon Studios in the same year.

Outside of films and series, Pitt has also entered into various endorsement deals over the years. These include partnerships with the likes of Tag Heuer, Chanel No. 5, and more recently, with the company De’ Longhi.

“We believe that Brad Pitt is the perfect ambassador to tell the world about the spirit of the De’ Longhi brand: bold and international but at the same time sophisticated and elegant, sensitive to issues of sustainability and a lover of art and design,” The De’ Longhi Group CEO, Massimo Garavaglia, explained in a statement.

At the same time, Pitt also famously entered into the wine business with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. In the past, the former couple had invested in Château Miraval together. The brand became famous for its rosé.

After their divorce, Pitt wanted to retain total control of Château Miraval after Jolie made a move to sell her portion to a Russian oligarch who is highly invested in the Stoli brand as well. The case is going to arbitration at the end of Summer 2023 and that is when the fate of Château Miraval will be revealed.

With all these projects and ventures, it’s no wonder Pitt is now worth an estimated $400 million.

As it stands, it seems Pitt just has a little bit more than his Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood co-star. If one thinks about it though, it doesn’t really matter. Both actors are highly successful, and both are here to stay. That’s what really counts.
