Two legendary Texans who just so happen to be Hollywood stars paid a visit to the heart of the Lone Star State on Wednesday, November 13, according to fan sightings in Austin.
The exact reason that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are hanging around town has not been confirmed, but it could be that the pair is filming their Apple TV+ comedy series, Brother From Another Mother. Vulture writes that the show will follow a fictionalized version of the pair as the two families have to learn to live together on McConaughey’s Texas ranch.
The name of the show is a reference to a running rumor that McConaughey and Harrelson are unknowingly half brothers.
Redditor u/futurenostalgia7777 posted three pictures of the men filming along Austin’s iconic South Congress Avenue to the r/Austin subreddit on Wednesday. In one of the photos, it’s clear the actors are shooting outside Billy Reid, a men’s clothing store located at 1202 S. Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78704.

“Part of what makes Texas a film friendly place is that these shoots can happen without creating dangerous situations. As a certified film office, there is etiquette that our office and most film offices follow. We don’t publicize active filming as it creates large crowds and impedes the production along with unnecessarily jeopardizing the safety of those in the area,” Brian Gannon, director of the commission, told MySA. “Austin has a reputation for being a film friendly community where our talented creatives can work in public and private spaces. Shoots of this nature bring economic impact and jobs to our community.”
