Despite Wanting Kids, Glen Powell Opened Up About Why It May Not Be Possible For Him To Have A “Healthy” Relationship Right Now

Glen Powell is getting honest about the difficulties of navigating romantic relationships as a celebrity.

As I’m sure you’ll know, Glen’s had a major star turn in the past year or two. Off the back of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, he appeared alongside Sydney Sweeney in 2023’s mega-hit rom-com Anyone But You. And now, he’s on the road promoting two new movies for the summer, Hit Man and Twisters.

It’s no secret that Glen has longed for this kind of Hollywood success for many years. However, in a recent interview on CBS Mornings, the 35-year-old revealed that the influx in fame and popularity has had downsides in his personal life.

“This is a time where life is moving so fast that I don’t even know if I could bring someone into it … in a healthy way, even if I tried,” he told Gayle King as the pair discussed dating and his jam-packed work schedule.

When Gayle suggested that he could probably make it work for “the right person,” Glen replied: “For the right person, I think that’s right.”

Glen said he isn’t “chasing love” right now but clarified that he’s open to anything that might come his way.

“If love comes and hits me in the face and knocks me over, I welcome it with open arms because that’s something I really want,” he said. “You know, it’s like — even just being with my niece and nephew today, it’s like, I really want kids.”The actor continued: “I really want that phase of life. It’s not far away. And at the same time, I realize [that] it’s going to take a very specific type of person to navigate this [lifestyle]. It’s a lot.”

As far as we know, Glen has been single for about a year since his split from Gigi Paris in April 2023. Gigi and Glen started dating in 2019 and reportedly broke up “several times” before they finally called it quits for good.

At the time of their last breakup, a source told People that Glen and Gigi started facing issues in their relationship around the time Top Gun: Maverick came out. And now, Glen said he’s realized over the past few years that there are “new aspects and new complexities” to life in Hollywood that have a significant impact when it comes to dating.

“To bring someone into that and to make them feel comfortable, to make them feel seen, to make them feel loved, when a lot of the elements around that can really eat at someone’s self-confidence or worth or any of that stuff,” Glen said. “I’m not willing to have somebody sign up for that if they’re not ready for it.”
