I’ve actually met Jodie Foster before, so I’d love to answer this question.
And yes, you’re entirely correct. For all my life, I saw Jodie Foster as some larger-than-life figure, she really stood out to me. almost like a role model for me. I wanted to be just like Jodie Foster. I had posters of her in my room. I even got a GPS tracker on the bottom of her car, so that way I could see exactly where she was going, and I could emulate her day-to-day to be more like her.
But getting to the point, the time I met Jodie Foster;
I remember it quite vividly, as one of the most starstruck times of my life, and simultaneously one of the most disappointing moments of my life as well. I was President of the Followers of Foster Club (A sort of, Jodie Foster fan club, if you will. I’m sure you’d’ve heard of us before) And as President, I was invited to meet Jodie Foster over a dinner in a local Olive Garden.
I could NOT believe it. I was honored. Of course I dressed to the 9s for the occasion, I had to look my best for my idol.
The night had arrived and I was practically biting my nails in nervousness. I showed up to the Olive Garden 2 hours early to keep Ms. Foster’s seat warm for her in preparation. Only the best for Ms Foster, I had thought.
When she finally arrived it was like a dream come true. The world moved in slow motion for a moment as she walked in the door. Then she sat down. And I’ll never forget what happened next.
Jodie spoke, and, in a surprisingly cockney accent, which had taken me back because I never knew Jodie spoke with a cockney accent, said “Ello love buf-tings to ya, I’m Jodee Fosta, I ‘ear yuo’re the Presinent of me fan club righto righto”
You can see how I was a little disappointment.
