Edward Norton Unravels The Secret to Leonardo DiCaprio Not Winning Multiple Oscars.
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most celebrated and successful actors in the movie industry, who has been captivating the audience with his mesmerizing performance since 1991. DiCaprio is probably the most versatile actor, and no matter which role you present him, he will not only portray it but also become synonymous with it. Naturally, fame and success followed him, as he received the highest form of praise, that is, the Academy Awards to honor his work.
Even though Leonardo DiCaprio has a stellar career where he consistently charms viewers and critics, he has only one Academy Award, which remained a conversation topic among the fans. However, it looks like Edward Norton has probably found out the reason for the Titanic actor having only one Academy Award, and he shares it with the actor’s fans.
Edward Norton Believes Leonardo DiCaprio is Just Unlucky to Not Win the Academy Award
Leonardo DiCaprio is the definitive star of this generation, as he is often compared to Hollywood’s all-time greats such as Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Gene Hackman, and many more. This is evident as there is no shortage of phenomenal performances in his career. However, fans often wonder why he won only one Oscar in his career despite giving Oscar-worthy performances.
Turns out Edward Norton has found the reason for DiCaprio winning only one Academy Award in his career, as Norton believes that the Inception actor is just unlucky. The Fight Club actor was present on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he shared that DiCaprio is immensely “addicted to devices” he jokes about the actor often checking “which club is blowing up and which Israeli supermodel turned 18 four hours ago” He added that they call him “Unlucky Leo” as he described his life-threatening accidents. He said,
“We were underwater, and he has this crappy little like aftermarket like snapshot digital camera in some sort of housing, but he’s obsessed. You know, he’s underwater like this on it all the time. And we call him Unlucky Leo because Leo has almost had a parachute not open on him, he’s had a plane engine blow up on him.”

Edward Norton added that the Django Unchained actor almost drowned while scuba diving when they were together,
“So in the water and after a while I’m looking around and I realize he’s just not there so I start swimming out like deep into the ocean and then I see it’s Leo and he’s coming toward me and I can see from like 50 yards away his eyes are like this big and he’s going like this [imitates Leonardo DiCaprio’s actions],” said Edward Norton. “You say you gave him Oxygen,” Fallon added.
“So I give it to him and he’s like we did the buddy breath thing and we go up abd he’s like falling all over me like ‘Oh buddy buddy, you saved my life, you saved me’ I’m like let’s get out of the water like let’s not do this.”
Norton’s explanation sounds reasonable as DiCaprio not winning the Oscar is just him being unlucky.
Leonardo DiCaprio Once Rejected Boogie Nights
During an exclusive interview with The Bill Simmons Podcast, the Shutter Island actor finally addressed the rumor circling on why he never got the lead role in Boogie Nights. DiCaprio simply stated, “There was no Leo vs. Mark because Leo decided not to do the film.” He was honest about rejecting the role because he was unfamiliar with Paul Thomas Anderson’s body of works.
Boogie Nights would have been their first project together. However, the film that got Mark Wahlberg in the lead role was not only a hit among fans and critics but also earned three Academy Award nominations, including Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor.
