It’s been a truly wild 24 hours for Justin and Hailey Bieber (and Beliebers everywhere, TYVM) since the couple announced the!!!!! news that they’re expecting their first bb together. And despite the world not even fully recovering from the exciting life update about baby Bieber no. 1, Justin’s mom, Pattie Mallette, unknowingly started a rumor that the couple was having two!

Pattie initially sparked the speculation that the couple was having twins after commenting on an Instagram post uploaded by Hailey’s dad, Stephen Baldwin. The snap in question, you ask? A cute pic of the couple’s maternity shoot alongside the caption, “Love you guys ❤️ blessed beyond words🙏🏼 praise God 👶🏼let’s get ready to have some fun y’all 🎉.”

In response, Pattie commented, “Congratulations Grandpa! WE ARE GONNA HAVE THE CUTEST GRAND-BABIES EVER!”

Obvi, the pluralization of “grand-babies” immediately made people think the celebs were having twins, and the entire ~thing~ led to Justin’s mom clarifying her remark by noting, “No not twins lol I wish. I just mean in general. Hopefully they will have more than one eventually. They will make beautiful babies whenever they have them. One is enough for now 😂.”

However, this wasn’t the only time the soon-to-be grandmother expressed her excitement about the couple’s first child. Earlier in the day, she shared a sweet video reacting to the baby news on Instagram.

FYI, Justin and Hailey—who btw is already six months along 🥺❤️—shared the life update on May 9 by way of images of their vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii, all of which showcased the Rhode founder’s baby bump.
