In the last few years, Justin Bieber has had to cancel concerts and step away from the limelight in order to deal with health issues. The singer has been open with his fans about what’s going on, but many have naturally remained concerned about how he’s doing.

Here’s what we know about Justin’s health status — including what his wife Hailey Bieber’s father said in February 2024 that sparked worry among Justin and Hailey’s fans.

How is Justin Bieber’s health? The singer went public with his battle with Ramsey Hunt Syndrome in 2022.
In June 2022, Justin, who was previously diagnosed with Lyme disease and Epstein Barr virus, announced he was postponing several Justice tour concert dates in June and July due to his health.

He shared details about his condition with fans on Instagram in a video, saying, “Obviously, as you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.”

On June 15, 2022, his wife Hailey shared an update during an appearance on Good Morning America, saying, “Obviously it was just a very scary and random situation to happen, but he’s going to be totally OK and I’m just grateful he’s fine.”

In regard to canceling his shows, Justin explained that he “couldn’t physically perform them” and demonstrated his inability to blink or smile.

Justin’s initial plan was to postpone the rest of his Justice tour dates until October 2022, but when that month came, Justin ended up canceling all of his remaining tour dates in order to focus on his health.

In March 2023, the singer posted a reassuring video to Instagram in which he could be seen moving both sides of his face.

What is Ramsay Hunt Syndrome?
According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox and “occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.”

Antiviral drugs can reduce the risk of complications which include permanent facial muscle weakness, eye damage, and deafness.

In February 2024, fans grew concerned after Hailey Bieber’s dad asked for prayers for Justin and Hailey.
Per Page Six, Stephen Baldwin — Hailey’s dad — reposted an Instagram video in late February 2024 from Victor Marx, founder of All Things Possible Ministries. Victor’s post was a clip of Justin playing guitar and singing “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” by Delirious? and the Hillsong Worship.

Victor wrote in his own text on the video: “Christians, please when you think of Justin & Hailey, take a moment to offer a little prayer for them to have wisdom, protection and to draw close to the Lord.”

In his caption, Victor said he and his wife along with Hailey’s mother “often pray together” for Justin and Hailey, adding: “There are special challenges that folks in high visibility positions face and also the enemy doesn’t want them to draw closer to Jesus.”

He continued: “So often regardless of the material things or the accolades they often face spiritual warfare that intense and seeks to ship-wreck their faith, marriage and life in general. So thank you.”

Hours later, Justin and Hailey were seen attending a late-night church service in LA.

In the meantime, fans have been hoping for the best for the young couple.
