Jane Fonda and Jodie Foster Suit Up at the Hammer Museum’s Gala in the Garden

Jodie Foster and Jane Fonda meant business at Saturday’s Hammer Museum Gala in the Garden in Los Angeles.

Foster channeled the red trend in a scarlet double-breasted blazer and pleated trousers. The actress added on a patterned clutch and black pumps, completing her look with gold jewelry. Foster wore her dirty blond tresses in a side part.

Fonda, meanwhile, opted for a velvet blazer featuring a crystallized firework pattern. The “80 for Brady” star added on matching pants, a scoop-neck top and heels, completing her look with a bedazzled champagne clutch.

The actress’ bob was styled in waves, while her makeup consisted of a bold red lip and rosy blush.

Director Ava DuVernay, actress Jane Lynch and artist Nadia Lee Cohen were among the other celebrity attendees of the Hammer Museum’s 19th annual gala.

Rouge hues dominated the runway during the fall 2023 season, with labels such as Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Emilia Wickstead ushering in a red renaissance. This year, the trend continues as stars including Selena Gomez, Florence Pugh and Ayo Edebiri modeled shades of red at high-profile events like the Golden Globes.

Last month, Fonda turned to the art world — and specifically Larry Gagosian, a California native — to help raise funds and awareness on a critical issue.

It’s a fight against Big Oil, which has been campaigning with hundreds of millions of dollars to repeal Senate Bill 1137 — a law that puts regulations on the oil and gas industry in California, requiring its production facilities and wells not to drill within 3,200 feet of residences, education facilities, day care centers, colleges, universities, community resource centers, health care operations and any building housing a business open to the public. The referendum will be on the ballot this coming election in November.

“I found out the oil companies are planning to spend $200 million,” Fonda said. “How do you raise big bucks? Well, you can sell art.”
