Jennifer Lopez Traded Out Her ‘Ben’ Necklace for Another Person’s Name on a Necklace

Jennifer Lopez has made a noteworthy switch in her jewelry game. The singer and actress, who has always been a fan of nameplate necklaces, swapped out her “Ben” necklace for a sparkling new piece featuring her own name spelled out in diamonds during her stay in the Hamptons on July 19. And while some people are taking this bling as a sign that she and husband Ben Affleck are done for good, there seems to be a little more to it than that.

For those who’ve been following the Lopez-Affleck saga, you know that this isn’t just a “oh, I just threw this thing on,” type of fashion choice. JLo and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance in July 2021 and got hitched in Las Vegas a year later. But earlier this month, they didn’t celebrate their second wedding anniversary publicly. Combined with the fact that the two put their Beverly Hills mansion up for sale with a $68 million asking price during the second week of July, it seems like a split is imminent. But things are entirely that clear cut. She’s also been spotted wearing her Ben necklace amidst all the divorce rumors. She was also seen spending time in the Hamptons with her stepdaughter, Violet Affleck.

Now, back to the bling. Lopez has always had a thing for nameplate necklaces, switching them up depending on her mood and relationship status. And while she has worn her Ben necklace alongside her own intermittently throughout of the divorce rumors, her stay in the Hamptons as Affleck works back in Los Angeles seems to be a one-name type of trip.

This summer, she’s also been particularly obsessed with her gold ‘Jennifer’ necklace. Over the Fourth of July weekend, she paired this daintier piece with a peach-colored swimsuit, showcasing it not just once but twice. In fact, she’s been spotted wearing this exact necklace back in 2021 — right around the time she and Affleck reconnected.

Her latest nameplate is a step away from the block lettering we typically see on her bling, opting for a more cursive-leaning font, and, of course, diamonds. She paired the nameplate with a black crop top and white athletic pants, along with a little reminder of her ex Alex Rodriguez in New York Yankees baseball cap. (See the look on People.)

Whether her nameplate signals the end of Bennifer 2.0 or not, it seems the jewelry switch could simply serve as a reminder for Lopez to stay true to herself throughout her relationship issues.
