Jodie Foster says that Netflix, Disney, HBO, and others are ruling the roost now as she hails streamers’ bold storytelling.
In a chat with reporters at the backstage of the 82nd annual Golden Globes, she said, “Honestly, I think the most exciting narrative filmmaking right now is being done on streaming. That’s where I really go to see performances and to see characters build over time.”

The Silence of the Lambs actress, who won an Emmy for True Detective, also called her feature her favourite medium, explaining, “Although I have to say the features this year are amazing, for me as a feature person, it’s great to see that both can coexist, and there are different ways of telling stories.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, Jodie also weighed in on Demi Moore’s remarks after she won the trophy for The Substance, saying she believed her peak era passed when she took up the role in the 2024 horror film.
“I think something happens, there’s like an organism that gets released in your bloodstream — I’m not a doctor, so don’t follow me on that one — but it just feels like there’s a hormone that happens where suddenly you go, ‘Oh, I don’t really care about all the stupid things anymore, and I’m not going to compete with myself,’“ the veteran star responded on the sentiments of her fellow actor.
“I’m excited about what’s left of my life and who I become, and the wisdom that I can bring to the table. So for me, this is the most contented moment of my career, and I never would have known that.”
“I just never would have known that. But something happened the day I turned 60, and it all just came to pass,” Jodie concluded.
