The pending release from a government mental institution of failed assassin John Hinckley Jr. is creating shockwaves in Hollywood — and RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal that nobody has more to fear than Jodie Foster.
Hinckley was 25 when he attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in March 1981 in a delusional and psychotic effort to woo the actress.
The following year, he penned a twisted poem that detailed disturbing threats against the actress.
Entitled “Bloody Love,” Hinckley wrote, in part, “Jodie is my bloody love…A virgin till she dies…I am still her favorite fan…The one with bloody eyes.”
“Look here at my bloody knife…I think I’ll stab you first…Deep into your bloody heart…It should quench my thirst.”
Foster, 53, was just a teenager when Hinckley was tossed into a hospital for the attempted murder of Reagan, but he was determined to be not guilty by reason of insanity.
“Based on the evidence, I would harbor discomfort and concern for Jodie Foster’s well-being,” continued the then associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, who did not work with Hinckley. “Here is reason to believe that Hinckley actually wishes to carry this poem out.”
Added the professor: “I would take this as a very serious warning. Based solely on the poem, I would feel it’s premature to consider the release of this person. He is insane.”
As RadarOnline.com reported, Hinckley, 61, will soon be released from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital after spending 35 years at the psych ward.
Hinckley will begin his “convalescent leave” on August 5 and is expected to live with his 90-year-old mother in Williamsburg, Virginia.
