The author of a scorching new book on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star claims that actor Johnny Depp altered the truth about his turbulent past in an attempt to mislead the jury in his spectacular trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, in 2022.

Paul Barresi claimed a horrifying world that is filled with mental illness, treachery, substance abuse, and dysfunction in the novel “Accidental Fixer.” He tore the lid off the “skeletons” that are hidden in Johnny’s family closet.

“My search for the truth took me on a journey back to the Depp family’s roots,” Paul told The National Enquirer. For starters, he, a private investigator, was hired by Amber, who is 38, to dig up dirt on her ex-husband.

Johnny’s mother, Betty Sue, had been diagnosed with depression, mania, and attempted suicide. Additionally, Johnny’s father, Johnny Depp Sr., had been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, had difficulty obtaining job, and had had affairs with other women.

Johnny, who is 61 years old, delivered a dramatic testimony about his parents in the defamation action that he filed against Amber, Vanity Fair reported. However, Paul asserted that the actor falsified the facts, which ultimately led to Johnny winning the case and being paid more than $10 million.

“Johnny’s gripping testimony highlighted Betty Sue’s aggressive, mercurial and malevolent nature, drawing parallels to Amber. Conversely, his depiction of his father as the battered husband and victim resonated with the jury, suggesting similarities to Johnny himself. However, what I uncovered starkly contradicted the courtroom narrative,” Paul wrote.

During the course of the trial, Johnny presented Betty Sue as a villain who shared sole responsibility for the dissolution of the family unit. Paul, on the other hand, asserted that Johnny’s father played a substantial role.

“Johnny testified that his family moved frequently because of his mother, or rather, the ‘fire in her feet.’ While this may have been partially true, I discovered that the primary driver behind the frequent relocations was his father’s struggle to find steady work,” the author stated.

In addition, Paul contended that Johnny’s father’s unexpected departure and his mother’s unsuccessful attempt at suicide were both the result of Johnny Depp Sr. falling in love with Marsha Johnson, a former high school beauty queen who worked with Johnny. He went on to say that the arrest and conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol that Depp Sr. received shown “a likely predilection for alcohol.”

Johnny’s father previously tied the knot with Marsha, but he eventually divorced her and remarried only sixteen days later. While this was going on, Betty Sue declared Johnny, who was 16 years old at the time, to be self-sufficient after the rupture of her marriage. As a result, she ended up having five different spouses before she passed away from cancer in 2016.

“She was a hellcat. She was mean, but she was funny,” Johnny said of his mother.
