The film world is buzzing with both excitement and skepticism about Tinseltown’s beloved Johnny Depp’s forthcoming film, The Carnival at the End of Days. Fresh off the stir of his highly publicized court proceedings, the actor, 60, is set to embody a character as enigmatic as Satan in the Terry Gilliam-helmed flick.
So, The Carnival at the End of Days, which will also feature God, Adam, and Eve, is billed as an apocalyptic comedy by The Fisher King director. Also, note that this will be Depp’s re-entry into big-budget cinema after he settled his widely reported defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, two years ago.

Though there are mixed feelings among viewers regarding expectations and disdain for Depp’s flick, its ensemble cast—which includes notable actors like Jeff Bridges, Adam Driver, and Jason Momoa—may redefine the comedy genre.
Terry Gilliam’s Latest Project: Carnival at the End of Days & Its A-List Cast
Johnny Depp has made headlines once again, but this time it’s not for his love-life drama with ex-wife Amber Heard. The Pirates of the Caribbean star was married to Heard for a mere two years.
Yet, it was their tumultuous divorce that catapulted them into the limelight, not for their on-screen chemistry but for the controversial Depp v. Heard trials. Both parties claimed to have been abused by the other, sparking debates and leading to two highly publicized defamation cases that gripped the world.

Since focusing back on his acting career, however, Depp has been cast in a controversial role as Satan in the upcoming movie The Carnival at the End of Days. Jeff Bridges, Adam Driver, and Jason Momoa are among the cast members of the film, which will be helmed by Terry Gilliam (via Premiere).

Gilliam, who has struggled to fund his forthcoming project, expressed his excitement for the project, describing it as a comedy that will be very funny for those who like to be “offended”:
For the moment, filming is scheduled for next January. We’ll see. And I have a pretty good cast […] now we need a woman to complete casting. And it’s going to be complicated, because it has to be realistic. And it’s going to be very expensive! We’ll see what happens, but it’s a good script. It will be very funny for those who like to be offended.
Nonetheless, the director has finally secured funding for The Carnival at the End of Days, which has a budget of around $30 million, according to his recent interview with the French outlet, Midi Libre.

Fans Reaction: The Divisive Reception of Johnny Depp’s New Movie
There’s no denying that Johnny Depp and Terry Gilliam are two of the most illustrious names in the movie business. So, when news broke that the two were teaming up for The Carnival at the End of Days, fans were understandably enthusiastic. However, it seems that not everyone is thrilled about Depp’s involvement in the project.

Having said that, the majority of fans have expressed their disdain for Depp’s role as Satan, as they have already predicted that the movie will “flop”. Despite the hate that the film has been receiving online, there are still many fans who are eager to see what Gilliam and Depp can bring to the table.
Let’s have a look at a few comments left by fans:
Regardless, with a star-studded cast including Jeff Bridges, Adam Driver, & Jason Momoa, Depp’s upcoming project is shaping up to be a must-see movie. Only time will tell if The Carnival at the End of Days will be a hit or a miss, but Depp as Satan is already causing quite a stir!
