Jordan Love ‘signs record-breaking $220 million Green Bay Packers deal’ as stunned NFL fans cry, ‘What an overpay’

GREEN Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has reportedly put pen to paper on a mammoth new deal.

After backing up Aaron Rodgers for the first three seasons of his NFL career, Love took his opportunity in 2023 and ran with it.

While a fourth predicted that this deal means Dallas Cowboys quarterback “Dak Prescott [is] about to get paid.”

Love’s extension would mean he won’t now hit free agency until 2028.

At $220 million, this would be the 10th most valuable contract in the NFL – some distance behind Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year $450 million deal.

However, Love’s average salary of $55 million would be tied for first with fellow quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.

This follows an exceptional debut season as a starter for Love, in which he led Green Bay to a 9-8 record.

Love finished the regular season having thrown for 4,159 yards (seventh in the NFL), 32 touchdowns (second in the NFL), and 11 interceptions.

The 25-year-old’s exceptional play last season, leading a young Packers team to a Playoff win, has now reportedly been rewarded with a huge new deal.

Love has agreed to a four-year extension worth an eye-watering $220 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This deal would make Love the league’s highest-paid quarterback with an annual salary of $55 million.

What’s more, he will earn a staggering $75 million fully guaranteed via a signing bonus.

The deal was met with stunned responses on X.

“What an overpay after one year starting,” one fan said.

“What an insane deal,” commented a second.

“That just seemed ridiculous based on one season,” added another.

They subsequently beat the Cowboys 48-32 in Dallas in the Wildcard round, before losing to the Super Bowl-bound San Francisco 49ers 24-21.

This news came the same day that the Miami Dolphins also reportedly signed their franchise quarterback to a new deal.

Tua Tagovailoa’s new contract is said to be worth $212.4 million over four years, according to Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Last season, playing under the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, Tagovailoa reached his first career Pro Bowl having led the NFL in passing yards with 4,624.

He also threw for a career-high 29 touchdowns.
