Justin Bieber doesn’t need to follow the rules. He’s making major gains right now by thinking differently!

Biebs (and the wife he gushes over) just moved into a multi-million dollar mansion because the pandemic actually made that move cheaper than it would usually be. He’s even nominated for a Best Pop Vocal Album award tonight at the Grammy’s, while the album he made was actually R&B.

Justin thinks outside the box, and we’ve got to love him for it. Some choices take a little bit of explaining, though. Here’s how his new and unusual phone habits came to be.

Justin Swapped His Phone for an iPad

Mr. Bieber just released an interview with Billboard where he speaks about his upcoming album. Aside from chat about that album and his new song ‘Hold On,’ Justin talks about some changes he’s made to his technology habits.

The interview begins with a Billboard reporter noting that Justin starts his day by checking emails and messages from his management team, without using a phone. Justin chooses to use an iPad for this task, along with everything your average 27 year old would do on a phone.

He Says It Helps His Mental Health

When asked about his choice to ditch the phone, Justin said it’s all about setting boundaries between himself and all the people who want to reach him.

“I definitely learned how to have boundaries, and I just don’t feel like I owe anybody anything,” he told the interviewer. He said that keeping his online communication limited to the iPad “has helped me to be able to just say no and just be firm in it and know that my heart [wants] to help people, but I can’t do everything. I want to sometimes, but it’s just not sustainable.”

It makes sense that the singer might be tempted to spend all day responding to the thousands of messages and requests for shoutouts that his socials accummulate every single day. While he loves the fans, in his words: “It can definitely get frustrating.”

He’s Trying to Regain Control

After the chaos of creating (and then cancelling tour dates) for both Justin’s albums ‘Purpose’ and ‘Changes,’ the singer has made a conscious decision to take this album’s promotional journey at his own pace.

“Everything was about success, benchmarks and such, and then I was just still empty, you know?” said Justin in Billboard, referencing those busy ‘Purpose’ and ‘Changes’ eras. “All my relationships were suffering, but I had all this success and all of this money, and it just wasn’t fulfilling for me.”

Let’s hope the ‘Justice’ album – plus Justin’s new scaled-back social media habits – bring this star some peace.
