Kate Hudson channels How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days character as Dodgers win World Series over Yankees

Kate Hudson delivered a call back to one of her most popular roles in a hilarious video she posted to coincide with game five of the World Series.

The 45-year-old actress alluded to a scene featuring a stressed-out Matthew McConaughey in her clip, which she appeared to have filmed from Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.

In the original scene she was playing off, Kate’s character Andie Anderson begs her new boyfriend Benjamin Barry (McConaughey) to get her a soda during the pivotal final moments of a New York Knicks game.

In her TikTok video from Wednesday, Kate repeated the gag by asking a young woman next to her, who appeared to be her assistant, to get her a soda.

‘Game 5, bases loaded…’ Kate captioned the video, which celebrated the Dodgers coming from a 5–0 deficit to win 7–6.

‘Can you get a soda?’ Kate said with a knowing smile as she toggled the camera between herself and her assistant, who was dressed in a Dodgers shirt and backwards blue baseball cap.

‘No,’ the other woman replied with a shake of her head as she turned her attention back to the diamond.

‘No, can you go get me a soda?’ Kate continued with a bigger smirk as she pointed toward the concession stands.

‘Right now?’ shot back her assistant, who seemed to be visibly panicking.

‘Yeah, like right now,’ Kate continued, before turning the camera to the field to show the game in action.

But she only got another ‘no’ from the companion before the short clip ended.

In the original, Kate and Matthew watched a Knicks game, but with just a little over one minute left, she begged him to get her a soda.

After he rushed to find a concessions stand that was still open that late in the game, he final got the soda — without ice — only for her to ask for a redo because it wasn’t ‘diet.’

Then while he was waiting for take two, the Knicks clinched the game-winning basket, which he only partially saw from a TV screen outside the arena.

The hilarious yet nerve-wracking scene was a test from Kate’s character Andie, as she’s secretly writing an article about ‘How to lose a guy in 10 days,’ which will be due to her overly needy behavior.

But unbeknownst to her, Benjamin — who is an ad executive — has made a bet that he can get a woman to fall for him within 10 days, leading up to his company’s big party, which will hopefully earn him a spot on a major new campaign the agency is creating for a diamond company.

The 2003 rom-com was a major hit at the box office, grossing $177.5 million against a $50 million budget, so the comments on Kate’s post were understandably populated by fans of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.

‘Do people understand how ICONIC THIS IS,’ gushed one super fan.

‘My all time fav Kate Hudson film!!! That yellow dress on her was magical,’ added another poster.

‘For the girls that get it. loved this movie!’ added another person, while numerous other commenters quoted lines from the film.

Kate’s clip came at the end of a whirlwind World Series, which saw the Dodgers win in five games.

The Dodgers most recently won in 2020 after a season shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, but they previously had not won the World series since 1988.

The Yankees last won the World Series in 2009, but the team has won the title more than any other MLB franchise.
