Keanu Reeves has just confirmed that he’s been accidentally married to Winona Ryder for the past 30 years.

The Matrix and John Wick star, 60, has long had the affectionate nickname ‘the internet’s boyfriend’, however, he has never been a married man.

Or so it seemed.

Turns out, the actor may have spent the past three decades unintentionally married to his co-star, Winona Ryder.

Now, you may wonder how on earth does something like this happen? On the set of a gothic horror film, of course!

Back in 1992, both Ryder and Reeves co-stared in Francis Ford Coppola’s rendition of Dracula, alongside Gary Oldman playing the titular villain. The film may have received mixed reviews upon its release, however, it seems the film will now forever hold a special place in the hearts of both Reeves and Ryder.

During the film, their characters Mina and Jonathan Harker tie the knot, however, their on-set marriage may have been more permanent than they originally meant it to be.

During an interview for their 2018 film Destination Wedding, Ryder revealed that Coppola had used an actual Romanian priest to perform the ceremony.

“We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis used a real Romanian priest,” she said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we’re married.”

Reeves has also addressed the speculation in an interview with Esquire, joking: “We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests.

“Winona says we are, Coppola says we are, so I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”

Although the pair are legally bound under the eyes of god, they have never actually dated in real life. Ryder is well known for her high-profile relationship with Johnny Depp back in the 90s. The pair first crossed paths in 1989 and would go on to date for four years before breaking, during which Depp got his infamous ‘Winona Forever’ tattoo. She has since been in a relationship with Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011.

Meanwhile, Reeves was in an on and off relationship with actress and record company executive Jennifer Syme between 1998 and 2001. Syme sadly passed away in 2001. He is currently reported to be in a relationship with visual artist, Alexandra Grant.

It’s unknown if the pair ever had to dissolve their marriage – after all, they would’ve been legally joined – but the story remains a pretty cool piece of trivia from the 1992 film.

Either way, looks like the pair have a lot of anniversary cards and Valentine’s Day gifts to be catching up on.
