The dynamic duo starred together in the action flick John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved actors working in Hollywood right now. Contrary to the ‘Golden Retriever energy’ he has off-screen, he is a badass on screen, especially when he stars in the John Wick franchise. The actor reportedly trained extensively for the action-heavy role, including killing it at martial arts and tactical training.

Reeves’ tactical training video recently went viral, where he can be seen hitting targets with precision and proper technique. His intense commitment got the endorsement of his John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum co-star Halle Berry too, who agreed that Reeves was not just acting as Wick in the films. Berry too had intense training sessions for her role in the film.

Keanu Reeves is known for his kind-hearted nature, his forever-young good looks, and his extreme commitment to the roles he plays. While The Matrix star has trained extensively before, his preparation for the John Wick films was at an unprecedented level. The actor reportedly trained for months for the third film of the franchise.

In a featurette for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Reeves mentioned that he had to train in multiple martial arts as well as gun training for more than six months. The film had the most action set-pieces in the franchise yet (which was beaten by its sequel) and was a globe-trotting action adventure with his co-star Halle Berry.

A behind-the-scenes video of Reeves and Berry training for John Wick 3 released by a tactical training school, recently went viral again. The video saw Reeves hitting targets with insane precision, changing dominant hands, and multiple types of firearms. The actor performed many of his own stunts in the films, prompting Berry to agree with a fan’s statement that he was not ‘pretending to be John Wick’ in the films.

Reeves reportedly had an even more extensive training module for its sequel John Wick: Chapter 4, which not just included guns and martial arts, but also car stunts.

While Keanu Reeves did an amazing job at portraying the gun-toting assassin John Wick in the eponymous franchise, his co-star Halle Berry too reportedly had rigorous training which she completed successfully. The actress reportedly asked for the ‘John Wick training’, which director Chad Stahelksi happily provided (via John Wick: Chapter 3 featurette).

Halle Berry mentioned that the training for the action threequel was the most difficult experience for her as she had to work really hard despite previous experience. She said to EW,

I had learned capoeira for Catwoman and I had done some training for X-Men and Bond. This was on another level. I trained for about six months, five days a week. It was gun training, jiu-jitsu, aikido, all different kinds of martial arts.

I broke three ribs at one point. When I broke the ribs I thought, Oh, this is it, they’re going to recast me, but Chad said he was going to wait for me. And he waited for me, and I went back into training, and kept going.

Berry was also seen working on her shooting skills in a video by Tactical Taran, where she trained along with Keanu Reeves.
