Kelly Clarkson is one of many musicians who try to cash in on the holiday season, which can be lucrative for artists if they do it right. The singer and TV host has now released two Christmas albums, and she recently expanded one of them with new tunes. One of those just-added tracks brings Clarkson back to one Billboard chart and earns her a new hit, just days after she scored another smash on a totally different ranking with a separate, but still seasonal, cut.
“You For Christmas” debuts on the Adult Contemporary chart this week. Clarkson’s latest holiday single opens at No. 19 on Billboard’s radio ranking, which focuses exclusively on the most popular and most successful tunes on stations focusing on playing the more mature pop subgenre.
Clarkson has now pushed 37 tracks to the Adult Contemporary chart throughout her career. That’s a very large sum for the tally, and she likely ranks among the most successful names in the history of the radio roster.
The pop superstar leads six debuts on the chart this week, and all of them are seasonal in nature. Clarkson beats holiday cuts from artists like for King + Country, Pentatonix, and several others.
Clarkson hasn’t landed a new hit on the Adult Contemporary chart in more than a year. She last debuted a track on the tally in May 2023, when her tune “Mine” reached the ranking. It would go on to spend 22 weeks on the list, and it barely missed out on cracking the top 10, as it peaked at No. 11.
While she hasn’t scored a smash on the AC radio roster since last spring, Clarkson has been busy lately. Just last week, she earned her first career win on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. She joined Cher on a revamped take on the legend’s “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” which quickly launched at No. 3 on that list. “You For Christmas” is featured on the deluxe edition of Clarkson’s album When Christmas Comes Around…, which arrived in early November. Originally released in 2021, the pop icon added two new cuts to the tracklist, including her latest single.
