Lily Gladstone is about to play gay again!

The queer Oscar-nominated actor already has one queer role under her belt this year with Under the Bridge, and will play queer again in the upcoming film Fancy Dance. And now, it seems she’s lining up another role where she will get to play a queer woman.

According to The Cinemaholic, Gladstone has been cast in Fire Island director’s upcoming remake of the classic Ang Lee comedy The Wedding Banquet.

Gladstone will play a lesbian in the film who is in a relationship with a woman who agrees to marry a gay man for immigration and family-placating reasons.

The original version of The Wedding Banquet came out in 1993, and was directed by Ang Lee. It follows a gay Taiwanese immigrant man who agrees to marry a mainland Chinese woman to appease his parents and get her a green card.

In the new version, the main character is named Min and will be Korean. According to The Cinemaholic, he’s “about to finish his Master’s in Fine Arts” and “is someone who can boast K-pop star looks while wearing his heart on his very expensive sleeves.”

When his marriage proposal to his boyfriend Chris (who will be played by brilliant comedian Bowen Yang) falls apart, he asks his female best friend Angela (Kelly Marie Tran) to marry him so that he can get his green card. In return, he offers to pay for the IVF treatment for Angela’s partner (Gladstone). Soon, their plan for a small elopement turns into a giant Korean wedding extravaganza filled with family.

Gladstone will star alongside Tran, Yang, Joan Chen, and Youn Yu-jung in the film. The lead role of Min has not been cast.
