Fans of Mariska Hargitay think today’s supermodels are pretty lucky that she decided to pursue a career as an actress, with her latest throwback photo making it clear she could have easily been a contender in the modeling world.

The Law and Order: Special Victims Unit star shared a throwback photo on Instagram on Thurs., April 4. Though the photo wasn’t dated, it showed a much younger Hargitay striking a pose in what looked like either a dress or a jumpsuit. The silky and ruched navy blue fabric covered her upper body and arms but left her legs exposed.

The ER alum crossed her legs in front of her, with one on the ground and the other bent at the knee, as it drew a line across her body. Her toenails were painted a dark red and her pixie-cut hair was wild around her face as she cast her gaze away from the camera.

The now-60-year-old actress tagged the post with the #ThrowbackThursday Instagram hashtag, but didn’t provide any other context for when or where she had been photographed.

Fans were thrilled to see the throwback snapshot, and especially excited to gawk over Hargitay’s hairstyle at the time it was taken.

“The pixie cut is serving,” one Instagram user wrote, as another agreed that the “fierce” cut was “totally a slay.” Another jokingly used the actress’ name in their comment about her “HARGI-HAIR SLAY!!!”

“Mariska is a Boss Queen,” one fan commented. “She slayed then and she slays now.”

Others made direct comparisons between the SVU actress and one specific model while warning today’s supermodels that they were lucky they didn’t have to compete with Hargitay at the time of the photo.

“Omg,” one fan wrote, “you look like Cindy Crawford !!!!”

“Supermodels are so lucky you chose acting,” another said.

“What can’t she actually do,” another fan wondered. “Best actresses [sic], best model, best soul on earth.”
