Matthew McConaughey took to social media on Sunday to acknowledge Father’s Day.
The 52-year-old actor shared a throwback photo with several older men and wrote: ‘made men fathers. #fathersday.’
His dad, James Donald McConaughey, passed away in 1992 when the star was just 22–years-old.

The image, which was shared on both Twitter and Instagram, showed a much younger Matthew with dirty blonde hair and a beard-free face.
He smiled in the outtake, showing off his signature dimples while wearing a white t-shirt that said ‘Texas Student Leadership.’
The post racked up over 82,000 likes from his Instagram following of 6.5 million.

Speaking about his father’s death in his memoir Greenlights, McConaughey revealed: ‘He’d always told me and my brothers, “Boys, when I go, I’m gonna be makin’ love to your mother.” And that’s what happened. He had a heart attack when he climaxed.’
Nearly three decades after his dad’s death, the star recalled the moment his ‘knees buckled’ upon learning the devastating news from his mother.
‘I couldn’t believe it. He was my dad. Nobody or nothing could kill him,’ he told the outlet. ‘Except mom.’
Now, Matthew has a family of his own with wife Camila Alves, who he married in 2012.

Earlier this month Matthew made a visit to The White House where he made a touching statement on gun control.
It came after 19 children and two teachers were killed in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas.
During his appearance he called on Congress to ‘reach a higher ground.’
Shortly after the senate announced the framework of a bipartisan response to the latest mass shootings, a noteworthy breakthrough offering modest gun curbs and stepped-up efforts to improve school safety and mental health programs.
