It seems like Taylor Sheridan is the real problem behind Matthew McConaughey’s delayed ‘Yellowstone’ casting.
The Yellowstone series has been facing a lot more behind-the-scenes drama than perhaps what has been shown throughout its already-released four-and-a-half seasons.
And for something that seems to have started with Kevin Costner’s messy exit from the saga and followed by Matthew McConaughey’s reported involvement in it, the drama doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

This comes after the latest reports, which are now claiming that McConaughey joining the cast won’t be an easy thing, and the one posing a barrier to the same is none other than mastermind showrunner Taylor Sheridan himself.
In fact, according to these details, the actor is even reportedly considering walking away from the series because of Sheridan’s reported ‘god complex’.
Taylor Sheridan is Reportedly Posing a Barrier to Matthew McConaughey’s Casting
Somewhere along early 2023, the offscreen drama around Kevin Costner‘s leaving the fan-favorite Yellowstone series began, which didn’t sit well with fans because the actor had played the head of the Dutton family for over half a decade, and even nailed it, at that.

However, soon after this, reports started swirling around about Oscar winner McConaughey’s reported involvement in the saga after Costner’s exit, and fans felt mastermind Sheridan must be planning something big there for his smash-hit lore.
But now, it seems all of those reports are going nowhere. Besides new reports about how someone new is being eyed to join the franchise after the Dances with Wolves actor left to pay more attention to his Horizon film series, it seems like Sheridan himself is posing a problem for McConaughey’s involvement with the saga.
This is because, according to the latest reports from insiders, Taylor Sheridan‘s reported ‘god complex’ is proving to be a barrier between the Hollywood heartthrob’s casting deal getting finalized, which reportedly includes him asking for a $2.5 million per episode paycheck.

Taylor’s got a reputation for being a jerk with a ‘God complex.’ Matthew doesn’t particularly like behind-the-scenes drama.
Needless to say, that is enough to give fans at least a vague idea about whether they will or will not be able to see Matthew McConaughey join one of their favorite Western dramas.
But what’s even more surprising is that there’s a lot more to this story than just this, like how the actor reportedly must be contemplating moving on from this project that just can’t seem to finalize the deal even after so long.

While Sheridan’s reported god complex is one thing, it sounds like it isn’t the only thing. This comes after claims from insiders that the negotiations for the deal are going through this “incredibly drawn-out process,” which just may have McConaughey tired of it all at this point.
According to what the insider claimed to Life & Style:
Matthew can’t book movie work that is going to potentially overlap with the show. But he still doesn’t have clarity on when exactly this job would even start. He wants to make the deal — it’s become this incredibly drawn-out process.

Since the actor has seemingly mostly been quick at striking deals and getting his demands fulfilled because of the incredible fame he sports in the industry, the way these events seem to be turning isn’t reportedly quite sitting well with him.
No deal has ever taken this long for Matthew,” says the insider. “Especially after he won his Oscar, getting folks to meet his asking price has been a breeze.
Obviously, if these reports are true, then the ships don’t really seem to be sailing in favor of Matthew McConaughey, especially after such events.
But in this dramatic world, anything is possible, so we might as well take this with a pinch of salt.
