It is common in Hollywood, some grow sour of the spotlight and wish to live off the map, without constantly being chased down by fans or the paparazzi. Ariel Winter is a recent example, as she finally left Hollywood once Modern Family wrapped up.Chris Hemsworth is another example of an actor moving away from Hollywood, choosing to live a private life in a stunning home over in Australia. On the flip side, some might go way too overboard. Like take Steven Seagal, the actor moved into a hidden Arizona mansion, which also happens to be bulletproof…
As we’ll reveal in the following, Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey had their own reasons for finally leaving Hollywood behind. The couple left in 2014 for Texas, and they haven’t looked back since. Let’s take a look at the problems they had living in Hollywood and why they picked Texas as their home.
Camila Alves And Matthew McConaughey Grew Tired Of The Paparazzi Hanging Around Their Home In Malibu
Although it might’ve been convenient for McConaughey, given that lots of the shoots are out of Hollywood (and meetings), it was turning into a burden for the family. That was especially true when it came to their personal privacy, as the paparazzi were constantly swarming their home.
In order to give their children a different life, Alves and the McConaughey decided it was best to move elsewhere, and live a more private life away from Hollywood.
She told Fox News, “We lived in Malibu for many years and having the paparazzi outside our door every day – every single day – when that becomes your normal, you don’t realize how much that’s actually affecting the things you do until you actually leave and get out of it,” she continued.
“The kids get to have a private way of growing up. So from that perspective, it was very important.”
Since leaving a decade ago alongside Matthew’s mom, the family hasn’t looked back and continues to enjoy their time away from Hollywood’s bright lights.
The Texas Lifestyle Embodies What Camila Alves And Matthew McConaughey Grew Up On
Moving to Texas has been a move the family has been very content with. In the case of Camila Alves, the move reminds her of the days back in Brazil, with similar principles in place over in Texas. The couple left in 2014 and are still showing no signs of making the move back to Hollywood.
Alves confirms that the family is happy where they are and the current circumstances when it comes to everyday life.
“It’s been great,” she shared with Fox News.
“It really embodies our belief system, especially the ones I grew up with, like going to church every Sunday, saying ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no, sir.’ I grew up saying those things coming from a family of farmers.”
“For me, being from Brazil and then coming to Texas, I discovered a lot of similarities in terms of what families practice here, especially going to church on Sundays, and being very into the outdoors. It’s been a great transition.”
In terms of his work life, the change in address really hasn’t altered McConaughey’s professional career and if anything, he continued to thrive as per usual.
Matthew McConaughey Recently Purchased A Vacation Getaway Home
Matthew McConaughey made another major splash, purchasing a stunning oasis home over in Hawaii. The new home, built in 2020 features six bedroom and includes 7,000 square feet on the property. New York Post detailed some of its other luxury amenities.
“With a wide range of luxury amenities — including two primary suites, two pools, two outdoor firepits and both indoor and outdoor kitchens — they will never run out of things to do.”
“Among the home’s more luxurious features are private lanais with outdoor showers for the master suites, adding to the Zen vibe.”
The home also includes a stunning home and is an open concept. It seems like the family will be enjoying their vacation time in pure luxury and again, away from the Hollywood spotlight. It appears as though the family won’t be returning, unless Matthew heads back for a meeting or, a certain role.
