Although landing a spot on season 26 of The Voice, Sofronio Vasquez understood the chances of him winning the competition. With thousands of singers auditioning each season, the competition seemed to get bigger and better with each new show. But never focusing on the odds, Vasquez continued to perform and showcase his talents to his coach Michael Bublé and fans at home. Eventually landing in the top 5, Vasquez was shocked when he was named the winner of season 26. With Vasquez’s life changing in an instant, Bublé revealed the piece of advice he gave the singer going into the finale.
Still processing his victory on The Voice, Vasquez stood beside Bublé as the pair talked to Access Hollywood about their time on the show. While the first time Vasquez competed, it also marked the first time Bublé coached. Although new to the competition, the pair dominated the show week after week. But the night before the season finale, Bublé decided to speak with Vasquez about what the future held for him.
“God Has a Plan for You”: Bublé’s Phone Call to Vasquez
Not knowing how the season finale would play out, Bublé supported Vasquez’s dreams of producing a career in the music industry. And even if it didn’t involve winning The Voice, Bublé promised to be by his side. “I just called him and said, ‘My brother, God has a plan for you, and I don’t know if that plan is to win The Voice, but if it isn’t then there is a plan to do it another way. And I will be there with you man. I’ll be there, behind you, supporting you.’ And I’m glad that this was the choice the Lord made for him.”
Michael Bublé Had Faith In More Than Just Sofronio Vasquez
Outside of winning a record deal and walking away with $100,000, Vasquez explained one of the hardest parts of being on The Voice. He told People, “The hardest thing that I did with this journey is being away from my family.”
Although Bublé celebrated Vasquez winning The Voice, the coach also praised another member of his team, Shye. Much like Vasquez, Bublé knew Shye would become a top name even without The Voice behind her. “My artists Shye and Sofronio have worked their butts off. They deserve it, they are incredibly talented and I think they’re stars in the making, with or without this show.”
