American Idol still hasn’t found a replacement for departed judge Katy Perry, but fans of a new top contender eyed to take her job are begging the star not to consider it.

So many names have been thrown into the mix since the announcement Perry was leaving the show after the 22nd season, but ABC has not confirmed any names.

Global mega stars have been rumored to be attached to the show at the same time that rumors the show plans to shake things up and oust Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie also fly-despite fans angrily rejecting the thought.

However, while Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi and others have been among the names mentioned, the newest contender is actually someone else: Miley Cyrus.

Unfortunately, fans are also quickly working to urge her to not do it.

According to Online Betting Guide, the Flowers artist is now the odds on favorite to replace Cyrus at 6/4.

Cyrus was put into the running after Bryan mentioned she was in talks with the show, though he also mentioned Meghan Trainor and P!nk.

Lopez, the original favorite, who served as a judge on the original show, has fallen out of tha rankings entirely.

Despite Cyrus being a favorite though, others are urging her to do anything but join American Idol, despite her previous gigs as a coach on two seasons of NBC’s The Voice.

“Miley NO. Not when American Idol is flopping,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO SHE’LL DESTROY HER CAREER,” another added.

It’s unclear when ABC will officially replace Perry and when they will announce the newest judge.
