Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are teaming up once again to bring us another chilling crime story.

If the chilling story of Jeffrey Dahmer wasn’t enough to put you off, you’ll be very glad to know there are new episodes of Netflix’s anthology series on the way.

The story of Dahmer left viewers both horrified and captivated when it arrived on Netflix in 2022, with Evan Peters in the starring role.

American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy teamed up with Ian Brennan to create the show, and now the pair are back with another chilling tale this time focusing on two murderous brothers.

Titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, the new instalment of the Monster series will detail how Lyle and Erik killed their parents in 1989 in a high-profile case that caught the attention of the entire nation.

The pair burst into their parent’s home with shotguns, and fired so many shells that one of the brothers actually had to go back to his car to fetch more ammunition.

With newcomers Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch in the roles of Lyle and Erik, the series will look in to the events surrounding the Beverly Hills murders and what happened afterwards, when the brothers accused their parents of years of abuse.

Prosecutors dismissed their claims about why they’d taken their lives, and said the brothers actually killed their parents to get their hands on the family fortune.

The pair were ultimately convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, but their story is still ongoing as they continue to share their hopes for freedom.

Chavez and Koch will be joined in the upcoming series by Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny, who will play the brothers’ parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Nathan Lane is set to take on the role of investigative journalist Dominick Dunne, and Ari Graynor plays defense attorney Leslie Abramson.

The new Monsters series doesn’t yet have a specific release date, but crime fans won’t have too long to wait as Netflix has confirmed it’s set to arrive later in 2024.

Netflix users are already sharing their excitement for the new episodes, with one X user writing: “And I will be seated and awaiting updates on Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”

If Dahmer’s success on Netflix – where it reached one billion view hours in its first 60 days – is anything to go by, the new series is definitely one to look forward to!
