Law & Order Spinoff Might Move to Streaming to Avoid Cancelation.
One of the three Law & Order shows currently on the air is in danger of getting canceled, but it may not be the end of the line if that happens. As it stands, the series is likely to move over to Peacock to continue on if its run at NBC is over.
Per Deadline, the spinoff series Law & Order: Organized Crime is still on the bubble at NBC. This may have fans of the series concerned, given how the network has already renewed both Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for additional seasons. NBC has also been doling out cancelations lately, giving the boot to shows like Quantum Leap and Magnum P.I., leaving it hard to know what might happen with Organized Crime.
What’s worse for Organized Crime is that the show pulls in the lowest ratings of all of the Dick Wolf-produced series on NBC. However, despite its struggling viewership on television, the show has reportedly done very well with streaming on Peacock. It’s now been reported that Organized Crime could move over to Peacock completely if NBC opts not to move forward with a fifth season of the series on the network.
Elliot Stabler’s Evolution Might Continue in Season 5
“I’m finding it invigorating and stimulating both in the heart and in the head, series star Christopher Meloni recently said of observing Stabler’s evolution through the show, per Parade. “You just feel like you’re a big, important cog in this machine because it takes a lot of people to make things work and to make it satisfying dramatically and just as an entertaining vehicle. It’s made me feel super-engaged.
On how it felt to resume production on the show after the Hollywood strikes, the actor added, “The only thing new for me was I’d never returned to work where everyone was so glad to be back. Everyone’s grateful and everyone comes with a good attitude, but this time it was, ‘Thank god, thank god.’ It takes a little pain for you to understand and appreciate what you have.”
Law & Order: Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Ilene Chaiken, and Matt Olmstead, and it was developed by Warren Leight and Julie Martin. The spinoff features franchise star Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler, now working with the Organized Crime Task Force in the NYPD. The show also stars Danielle Mone Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Nona Parker Johnson, Brent Antonello, and Rick Gonzalez.
