Two talented mixed martial artists received much better roles in the third John Wick movie than they did in the Star Wars franchise. The John Wick movies are known for their impressive action, and actors Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman help provide one of the most impressive fight scenes in the series. During the climax of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Keanu Reeves’ John Wick battles against two assassins played by Yayan Ruhian and Rahman, who are both Indonesian actors and mixed martial artists.
The actors use their impressive skills in mixed martial arts to provide one of the best John Wick fight scenes. The fight scene between the three warriors was instantly very memorable, but was also a reminder of Yayan Ruhian and Rahman’s disappointing roles in the Star Wars franchise. Four years before John Wick 3, Yayan Ruhian and Rahman also had roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens that left much to be desired.

In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Yayan Ruhian and Rahman play the duo known as the Shinobi, a pair of ninja assassins who work for the High Table. They are also the top students of Zero, the secondary antagonist of the third John Wick movie, so they are sent to kill John during the climax of the film. Several times throughout the fight scene, they prove that they are worthy opponents for John Wick, even though he ultimately ends up besting them.
Years before John Wick 3 showed off their fighting skills, Yayan Ruhian and Rahman appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as members of the Kanjiklub, an intergalactic gang who were hunting Han Solo. Yayan Ruhian and Rahman appeared in the Star Wars film alongside their Raid co-star Iko Uwais. Therefore, the Kanjiklub featured several members who are skilled in mixed martial arts, but they were never included in a fight scene. Instead, Rey let loose the Rathtars, forcing the Kanjiklub to either flee or get eaten.

After their underwhelming Star Wars roles, it was great to see Yayan Ruhian and Rahman show off their abilities in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. In the film, the Shinobi’s fight scene with John Wick is several minutes long and includes many long shots that make it clear all the actors involved are performing their own stunts. Utilizing longer takes, rather than quick cuts, showcases how talented both Yayan Ruhian and Rahman are.
The Shinobi are honored to be facing the legendary John Wick, and they make that clear to him throughout their fight.
Even though the Shinobi are trying to kill John Wick, the fact that they respect Reeves’ iconic character adds an interesting dynamic to the fight. The Shinobi are honored to be facing the legendary John Wick, and they make that clear to him throughout their fight. Once John bests them at the end of the fight scene, he also pays respect to the two assassins, making it clear that the feeling was mutual. This unique element cements this fight as one of the best in the John Wick franchise.
