Even though Justin and Hailey Bieber are expecting their first child together, it hasn’t stopped rumors of relationship problems from continuing. Now, her uncle Billy Baldwin isn’t helping the speculation, after admitting the couple’s marriage is “complicated,” leaving fans to grasp at the meaning.

Hailey’s uncle, William “Billy” Baldwin, was approached by The U.S. Sun on May 23 during his attendance at a private screening for the forthcoming documentary, Americans With No Address, in New York City.

Billy, the brother of Hailey’s father, Stephen, disclosed that the news of Hailey and Justin’s pregnancy came as a surprise to him, as the couple had kept it under wraps from certain family members.

“I didn’t know. I found out when you found out. She didn’t text me,” he admitted. “I just found out when my phone started blowing up. All my nieces and nephews are like, ‘Did you see? Did you see?'”

Billy has three children: daughter Jameson, 24, son Vance, 23, and daughter Brooke, 19. His marriage to wife Chynna Phillips, 56, has seen its share of twists, including a divorce filing by Phillips in 2010, which was withdrawn shortly after, following their reconciliation.

Hailey’s Uncle Gave Her Marriage Advice

Reflecting on Hailey and Justin’s marriage, Billy described it as a “complicated situation,” acknowledging the challenges that fame and constant public scrutiny can bring to such a relationship.

“The only thing I ever said, not to Justin, but to Hailey, I said, ‘Remember, you’re in the business and your husband is one of the biggest pop stars in American history,’” he told the publication. “And I said, ‘And I’m in the business and I’m married to Chynna Phillips from Wilson Phillips.”

“I don’t know if you know anything about their history, but their first record, they sold 10 million copies and they had three singles go to number one on Billboard,” he added.

“So I was basically saying to [Hailey], ‘If you ever want to sit down and talk about how to navigate and be successful and keep it real in a long-term, sort of showbiz relationship, let me know if you ever want to talk about that,’” Billy continued.

Hailey’s Dad Also Worried Fans With Vague Comments

Billy isn’t the only Baldwin member to worry fans with his comments on Justin and Hailey’s relationship. Her dad caused concern earlier in the year when he asked fans to pray for the couple when they were facing various allegations of marriage problems.

Though Stephen never addressed his comments, Hailey went on to reveal her pregnancy a few months later, which could’ve been the reason the actor requested prayer for his daughter and son-in-law. Hailey is reportedly six months along and she and Justin have been packing on the PDA recently as they await the arrival of their first born.
