Coming just weeks after the debut of season 3, the latest news confirms when Reacher season 4 begins filming. The update comes directly from Lee Child who spoke openly about the timeline for Reacher in the year 2025. “It’s going to start shooting in the summer,” said Child, after revealing that the scripts are already written. With a summer shooting timeline, it’s likely that the series will return in early 2026.

With the news breaking several months before the season 3 premiere, it was confirmed in October 2024 that Reacher season 4 had been renewed. The decision to renew the show early came with almost no details about the forthcoming fourth season, but that is likely due to the desire to avoid spoilers for season 3. This decision isn’t out of the ordinary for Reacher, and season 3 was similarly rushed into development to capitalize on the smash success of the sophomore outing.

When Prime Video ordered season 3 early, it allowed for development to get underway quickly, which avoided any lengthy delays. Who Will Join Jack Reacher On His Next Mission?

Since there is so little information about Reacher season 4 thus far, it’s difficult to predict exactly who will appear in the upcoming episodes. The only certainty is the return of Alan Ritchson as the heavily-muscled and brilliant hero, Jack Reacher, and the role has skyrocketed Ritchson to superstar status in only a few seasons. Each season of Reacher dispatches the title character on some new adventure, and that necessitates an almost entirely new ensemble for him to team up with or battle. However, without any details about season 4, there’s no way to know who that will be.

Besides Ritchson’s turn as the title character, the only other consistently recurring figure has been Maria Sten as Frances Neagley. The former US Army Master sergeant has a close bond with Reacher, and has assisted him in some way or another in all three of his cases thus far. It’s highly likely that Sten will return as Neagley again, especially with the Reacher spinoff in the works that focuses on her character. Any other returning characters are less likely, though not entirely impossible.

Because of this, it’s nearly impossible to guess what will happen in Reacher season 4 until its particular book is revealed. With over two dozen Reacher books in print, it’s safe to say that the show could go in any direction when picking its source material. Season 1 started with The Killing Floor (the first book published but fifth in chronological order), and the subsequent seasons have followed no pattern when picking books.
