Robert Downey Jr. finally responded to Jimmy Kimmel’s viral Oscar joke, that rubbed Downey’s fan the wrong way.

The joke that set the Internet ablaze was made at the expense of Downey’s troubled past with fans dubbing it as “unnecessary” and “a sore thumb to watch”.

However, in a recent interview with Esquire, the father of three has finally addressed the joke and revealed his true feelings.

“I do not care”, the Manhattan, New York native said.

” I love Jimmy Kimmel. I think he is a national treasure”, he said of Kimmel’s controversial opening monologue, shrugging it off as a harmless joke.

However, his fans are not okay with it as one pointed out, “It’s not a joke if it’s never funny”.

Meanwhile, other fans of the star hailed him for taking jokes lightly as they wrote, “RDJ is a class act.”

One added, “That’s a man that should be humble and so proud of himself. He fought his way back from an addiction so many ppl lose the battle to.” (sic)

For those who are unfamiliar, the 56-year-old comedian hosted the 2024 Academy Award where he joked about many personalities including the Oppenheimer actor.

He said, “Congratulations to Cillian Murphy’s costar, Robert Downey Jr.”

“This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr.’s career. Well, one of the highest points”, he said pointing at his nose, a reference to his past struggles with drug addiction.

Now while the Academy Award winner went along with the uncomfortable joke and gestured, “keep it going”, fans were offended by this jab and took to Twitter to express their discontent.
